60 to 0 is around 110 feet. Stopping from 70 is something like 160 feet.

I'd guestimate that to stop from 150 mph the Camaro would need at least 750 feet. That said though, a thousand feet would probably be a lot more comfortable

I completely missed I had responses to this. It didnt tell me. Hmmm... Oh well. By the time I got to the event they were all booked up and I didnt get to run. Im an air traffic controller so I know about the runway marking signs thats what I had planned on using for distance remaining. I saw some other Camaros run but I think they all let off at the 1/4 mile. Im gonna try to go next year. Thanks for all the answers everyone.

If it helps as an air traffic controller i have seen T45 trainer jets go from about 150 mph to 0 in about 2000 feet. Then again i have seen F18s go from 145 to 0 in about 400feet, granted they had a tail hook and an arresting gear to catch them lol.

I've gone from right at 200 to stopped in a little less than 3000 feet... without dumping the laundry... Texas Mile... If they give your half of the 5000 feet for accelerating, then I would figure you'll be around 135 or so when it's time to start braking...

If you see two big white blocks painted on the runway wiz by on the far end you have 1k feet left. Start braking.

Typically doubling the speed will increase the stopping distance by 4 times. If for example

30 mph stops in 30 ft, then
60 mph stops in 120 ft

This does not include reaction time as noted above.
