1LE ring and pinion....
http://www.phastekperformance.com/20...-gears-391.htm
Very stoked about these. Thinking about getting them. Has anyone put these on their cars yet? Heard anything? If i decide to get them, what else do I need besides the install kit? |

It comes with a crush sleeve, and ring gear bolts. Depending on whos doing the install, you may not need an install kit.

Have you noticed a big difference in performance since you installed them?
How much of a fuel mileage hit did you take? Did you have to recalibrate the ECU? |

Here is what the write says:
2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 Camaro 3.91 Ring & Pinion Gear Set by GM
GM offers an OEM ring & pinion gear set for the 2010-2013 Camaro SS that are designed for long life and quiet operation. This manufacturing process combined with a professional installation will insure quiet factory like operation of your differential unlike less expensive gears sets that often can cause gear whine even if they are installed correctly. GM Ring & Pinion Specifications: - Designed to meet original equipment specifications - Manufactured by American Axle the original equipment gear supplier for Camaro SS - Gear material is a modified SAE 4320 steel alloy - 11 tooth pinion gear, 43 tooth ring gear design - Gear sets fit both manual and automatic transmission Camaro SS differentials - Gears sets are 100% single flank rolled to assure acceptable NVH characteristics GM Ring & Pinion Details: The 3.91 ratio ring and pinion provides a 13% increase in effective rear wheel torque multiplication compared to the factory 3.45 ring & pinion (MT) and a 20% increase in effective rear wheel torque multiplication compared to the factory 3.27 ring & pinion that is found on the AT equipped Camaro SS. When cruising at 60 mph in 6th gear, a manual transmission vehicle will see an approximate increase in engine speed of 180 RPM or 13% increase while automatic transmission vehicles will see an approximate increase of 300 rpm or 20% increase. Automatic & manual transmission equipped vehicles will require ECM calibration changes to correct the speedometer. Available as a ring and pinion only or as a complete differential assembly. The complete differential assembly is available as a complete new assembly or built from the customer’s core. The V8 differential can be adapted to the V6 vehicles but it requires new half shafts and a new driveshaft. Read more: http://www.phastekperformance.com/20...#ixzz2JTcvUbU7

Haha, I can read. I wanted to get the story from someone who has actually installed them in their car. For example, if i just went off what the website says, i would think it required the install kit.

No change in mileage, and huge performance increase on my setup. But I am cammed and the 3.27s were really too tall for my setup.

I installed these on my m6 LLT about 2,000 miles ago. The improvement is huge to say the least - the car feels 200 lbs lighter. My mileage actually increased in city driving (can use higher gears at city cruising speeds) by about 2-3 mpg but my highway mileage decreased by a similar amount. I used to get 22 combined with Vararam, Trifecta, LTs, and full exhaust but now I get about 20.5. I drive about 70% highway 30% city.
Drone decreased with the higher revs (I'm running a Flowmaster AMT) but YMMV. I would definitely recommend this mod to anyone who's on the fence with it. Don't let the MPG "change" deter you - I assure you the gains are the most noticeable of any mods I've performed on my car thus far. First gear is an absolute animal now (this may be something v8 owners will not like - or you will, depending on your definition of fun haha). 6th gear is now perfectly acceptable for highway cruising/passing. This is definitely how the car should have come from the factory. Edit: Keep in mind I drive a v6. The change for me is roughly 20% - similar to the L99. |

Was anything else involved in putting these on the LLT? The website mentions new half shafts and driveshaft??

That's only for the V6 Auto's... the Manual V6 has the same diff as the V8 already.

DO IT!
i still avg 21mpg highway driving cruising at 80mph, 24mpg's at 65mph. the performance difference is immediately noticeable. at first i though 1st gear was about useless...WRONG. now that i've gotten use to how hard it pulls "off the line" in first, i can't get enough of it. and the rest of the gears pull no matter what your RPM is. you CAN cruise in 6th doing 35 (NOT RECOMMENDED), but it will still pull and not fall on its face trying to accelerate...just an example. paid around $250 for the gears, $450 for install...permagrin = priceless. i already have HPTuners, so making the adjustment to the ECU was simple. literally takes less than 5 min. which im sure could be done by a chevy dealership if your not wanting to throw a tune on your vehicle. i'd call and check with their shop to see what they can do. good luck btw...hit up maureen at rodgers chevrolet: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/member.php?u=22665. she's a vendor on here and will give you a good deal too. ask me how i know...

I put the 3.91 gear and a true-trac in my car 2 weeks ago. So far I'm very happy with it. The car just feels peppier now and my gas mileage is about the same. It pulls much better when you step on it in any gear. I'm headed to the track with it this weekend to see how much it will help my ET. I expect it to be significantly quicker.
