I've ridden around the track at Road America in a mildly modded GTR with an incredible driver. The guy is almost machine like in manners and control when he's behind the wheel. We were passing all kinds of cars like they were standing still and I was convinced the car was going to come off the track or just die.... But it didn't. It pulled, pushed, whined, turned, shifted hard, squealed and showed its taillights to a large number of cars lap after lap.

I couldn't even keep my head upright during the turns -- that's how hard this guy drove it in to curves and kept on it through them.

If you've not ridden in this car with the right driver, then you're really missing out on what the car can do.. I promise you, it's way more than even I thought it could do.

Getting back in to my Camaro seemed, well, depressing after that.. It's like going out with a supermodel for a weekend, then going home to a blowup doll.

If you call a set of high flow air filters and track rotors, pads and an alignment modding a car... :p

How'd he get the bloody great welt on his forehead? Did he bounce off the steering wheel?

Even @ 10.7, the top 15 of the power adders that was posted a few minutes ago, are still just as fast. The majority of the people out there will never break into the 10's with either car.
I just cover that 10.87 in my Camaro stock internal L99, number 18 on our list. I have 10k in my car other than the cost of the car itself. I did almost all the work myself and I`m sure for the average guy having a shop do everything it would have been around 15k. So not too hard to beat one for a lot less money.

I'm going with the GTR on this one. AWD is awesome and gets you moving fast.
Don't get me wrong, a TT Camaro SS will have gobs of power, but putting it all down and not spinning will cost an arm and a leg and a lot of tweaking.
That's why the GTR is almost 100k. You get what you pay for.

exactly 10 grand.... see prev post by me... car cost 36k+10kmods= 46k runs 10.8x`s...Back to back..

No one can deny the GTR is a more well rounded car and that is why its close to 100k. But in terms of drag racing only, you can go a lot faster for a lot less money w/ other platforms.

The brand new GTR's are making 545 hp @ 6400 with 463 tq @ 3200. The older ones were 460-480ish. Impressive for a 6 cyl, but the transmissions aren't that great, but they have improved a lot since the first couple of years. Getting more power out of the car isn't cheap, but it is possible.

If you look around on YouTube you can see all kinds of video's from here in SoCal of a couple of very high hp GTR's (Blue one claims to have over 1000hp) getting schooled by a black Z06 that was making less power. Z06 driver destroyed him in his '12 TT 5.0 from both a dig and a roll. The driver mod is crucial!
I raced one at Irwindale before I installed the TT so it had a built engine with heads/cam, headers, CAI and tune but was on 22" wheel with Nitto NT404(treadwear 360 or 420) tires and smashed him. My ET was only 1 tenth faster but I got a better light. He had a higher MPH though. I went back a week later on DR's and ran 7.6 then 7.1 on a 100 shot. Now with the turbos on I can't hook to save my life, lol.

Before the race we were next to each other in the staging area and I asked him I he wanted me to remove 2 spark plug wires so we could be even and him and his buddies said he would kill me.

Here is the slip:

BTW, there were two GT-R's at Fontana both owned by the same guy and he drove one to the mid 11's while his GF drove the other to low 12's. The guy got smoked by a Duramax Diesel and got all butt hurt. You can look for the vid on Youtube.

i know the GTR is a great car, but why does it always seem that most of the drivers of them are a**holes and ****ey younger guys. im not saying all, but all the ones iv met at either car cruises or drag strip seem very stuck up and think nothing can beat them

Yeah how the hell did he cut a 2.2 in a GT-R? That thing leaving off idle would still do better than the 2.2, which is what a stock FWD GTI does with 200hp and all season tires. They usually cut 1.60-1.70s.

Kind of like driving an EVO or STi.
I know lots of guys that pull 2.1 - 2.2 sec 60' times with them. But put someone behind the wheel that knows what they're doing and they'll be in the 1.6x - 1.7x range.

A well driven GT-R should be down in the 1.7x range for sure.

2.2 sec 60' is like running a (5.5 sec 0-60mph) which is ridiculously slow for a GT-R.
