does anyone know if you can buy the halo ring lights for the SS just to have the head lights because I didn't want the RS package but I really would have liked those lights. Anyone know?

You could but they would be a bitch to wire. If you don't mind hacking up your $40,000 car and voiding the warranty you could make it work.

In the H2 I had I ran a jumper from the headlight relay to the DRL relay with a diode inline to prevent the headlights from coming on during the daytime. DISCLAIMER PICTURE IS FROM A HUMMER FUSE BOX...

point is - it'll take a little more engineering than just throwing a switch in the line
not if the use a constant power source as your power that way you can flip them on at any time no matter key on or off or even in, and there will be no need to pull a relay by doing this

Of course my intention is not to blind anyway or use my lights unsafely. I just like all the lights on for cool factor. I wired my Z28 to run the fogs along with the park lights and I loved the look. Just a preference for me. Some of you may not think it's cool, but I always have. Especially when they're there. If there was nothing there, then it wouldnt be an issue. i even make sure my wife's Lexus has the fog lights on when she's driving. It just looks cool to me....just like she things that driving with the sunrook on tilt is cute and sporty. LOL.

Just seems liek a waste to have those lights down there and they can't be run simultaneously with the HIDs.

That's all....

Agreed. And the standard non-RS headlights are just so cheap looking (imo).

The Camaro has a very modern/futuristic look to it. And the standard headlights are like a throwback to 1990.

But I think I will run a set of the super bright LED DRL's. The color temperature on these units are 8000K which should be close to the HID's. I am also going to change all of the other lights in the car...for example the reverse lights, dome lights and license plate lights to all LED. I have them in my Denali and they look sweet. I'll get some pictures and post them.

Scroll down to LED Daytime Running Lamp (DRL)
You can check out the rest of the lights here

i too will be most likely be switching all my lights to LED to save on battery draw that way my system won't be interfered much until i get a HO alternator lol or for the DRL's i may just get some Xenon bulbs that match the K degree of the HID's and it will look just as good

thats why a lot of people still like them because of the "older" style look, its completely personal taste..

I wouldnt ever call them "cheap" looking...

i agree it just looks better that's all, and if adjusted properly they won't blind anyone

that's why i always check to make sure mine are adjusted because i know i wouldn't want to cause someone a accident

unless they deserve it

just kidding

I wonder why they didn't use the Halos as the DRLs instead of the fog lights. It may be an interesting mod to to wire the Halos to always be on (as DRLs and then along with the headlights at night) and restore the fog light button to the dash that the non-RS has.

Yes. It's that little round thing on the top of the dash, near the windshield.
