Fender. You could ask the paintless dent folks as I've seen some amazing repairs from them but deep creases make them unlikely to fix to your satisfaction.

No way can a paintless repair guy fix that. The metal is too stretched. Needs a new fender

you can remove and replace the fender yourself if you are willing to try..its strictly bolt on...there is no welding if you remove it yourself go to the dealer and see if you can buy a oem fender...these are made at the factory and are shipped to dealers as service parts for this type of repair...im not sure they will sell you one but see what they say..then have it painted at a body shop and reinstall it yourself....if you have some trouble with the gaps ..a body shop could work it out for you at a decent price...fenders from the body shop may not be original gm parts

If you are an experienced body man then OK fix it yourself. One of the many issues these days is the DIY'er thinking it's an easy fix. We had a body man who worked for my Dad about 20 years and he had one of the best sayings I'll never forget, "to each man his trade." That is to say if you're a banker don't try to be a plumber, electrician, or in his particular case a body man. You can do as much damage or more not being qualified person to do so. Take it to a professional, they'll be able to blend the paint and get the panel fit correct the first time.

For this car, replace fender, and probably refinish front bumper cover. The cover is being stretched from the inner lip/brace of the fender, and hopefully will go back into place.

Paintless dent repair ain't gonna happen here.

No welding, it just bolts on. It probably doesnt need a bracket riveted on, but my old 4th gen (with plastic fenders) did. All you do in that case is drill through the rivets on the old fender, re-use the brackets and use pop rivets and a cheap gun from autozone.

To bad, but it happens, get a new fender, there are 3 bolts on top and 3 on the bottom and 1 when you open the door in the top of the door jam, the last one is the hardest to remove, its from the wheel well there is a star retainer that holds the insulation on, then you need a 10 mm deep socket to loosen the bolt, from there it comes off and all you need to do is pull off 2 push in nut to reuse in the new fender.

PS there is removing the bumper and the wheel well, and last the side rocker to get to the lower bolts.

A body shop wants me to paint the door and part of the hood to "color match" a new fender. Since the car is so new, is that even necessary? It's not like the black had a chance to fade...

A dealer will sell me the GM fender painted and ready to go (including replacement CAMARO letters installed) for a pretty good price. It sounds like the install will take some time, but not be all that complicated.

The issue with just doing a panel swap and not blending into the door and even the hood is that you can in many cases tell that it has been damaged, replaced or re-painted due to variances in either the color, and yes I know your car is black, but also the texture of the paint can be different. Blending will actually hide that 99% of the time. Just make sure they mask the door & hood jams really well to keep any over spray from settling in those areas.

Great idea. Gary didn't have any. He suggested I post in the parts wanted section. I'll go do that now.
