As the first comment says, they're sure they'd deploy in one over here. Do airbags somehow know what country they're in?

Old, old news.......

Hyundai already confirmed sometime ago that it was a test car that didn't have airbags installed.

Here is a production version stationary hit by a van doing 50mph in South Korea. The ones in those pics are PRE-PRODUCTION models that the engineers took out for a spin. Airbags were disabled or were missing on those mules. After that incident, Hyundai Korea started putting on notices on the airbags themselves if they were equipped or not. Yes, this is old old news.

So that settles that.

If you didnt know, there are many cases where airbags fail to deploy. Manufacturer's defect, angle of the crash, occupant's size, too many variables to name. It's not just Hyundai but all companies. BMW, Lexus, GM's, etc...I've seen it all.

I agree with some comments, and I disagree with most of the comments. I can see why the genesis coupe 3.8 was compared to the new camaro. Not too far off in price, around the same horspower, ect... to each his own, I guess.

Some talk smack about the genesis coupe, and say "it's just a hyundai" yeah, true, it is. However, it is able to compete with the camaro. It is quicker than the v6 camaro as well. I will find some videos of the 440hp genesis coupe if anyone is interested in seeing them.

I like the car, some don't, so do, its all in preferences. IMO both cars are cool.

Saw both cars this past weekend on the road, my thoughts are that the Genesis Coupe is much better looking on the road and in person than I thought but the 2010 Camaro has it beat in the looks department with a much more larger than life appeal. The new camaro is a real head-turner, I've seen around 4 of them on the road by now and every time I do my jaw drops. The Genesis looked almost like an Infiniti from the back and I'm not too crazy about the front just yet. If I was in the market for a V6 I still don't know that I'd consider the Genesis, it's a great value but still overpriced IMO for what you get- it's still slower than my Z (although prob quicker than some of the early models) and just does not jump out at me for the price even though I like what they're trying to do with that platform. Also, from what I've heard the turbo 2.0 is lethargic, without the eager aftermarket chomping at the bits to play with that engine and enhance it through upgrades I doubt it would be worth the cost (around $25k). They should seriously consider throwing the Tau into the coupe then we'd be talking.

I test drove the Genesis Coupe 3.8 grand touring and the coupe prior to deciding on the Camaro. Though the GC is fast, but in my opinion it was a very unpleasant driving/riding experience.

OK, i have to 100% DISAGREE with you on the price. local dealer has 2 Genesis on the lot, one a 6 speed 2.0T, basic, but basic for the GC is not that basic, nice seats, all the ABS, Stability, etc, etc, PW, PL, CD with MP3, Ipod cable, etc, was well under 23k. Also have a 3.8 automatic, a lot more features, wireless bluetooth, steering wheel radio controls, etc, etc, less than 27k. It may not be my favorite vehicle, but it a very good value for what you get and that is far cheaper than any ZCar. If I am not mistaken the 6 speed V6 starts at 25k and that is with the features mentioned above for the AT V6.

Maybe where you are, but I don't live in Kentucky and around here they are starting around $25k for the 2.0 and around $30k for the V6, I can post links to the local dealerships as well reflecting this. I definitely agree with you that for the $27k you referenced for the 3.8 is a great value for what you get but I'm not sure someone would be lucky enough to find a deal like that around here and the 2.0 in my eyes does not offer enough to qualify as a $25k car (I got my '07 350z with only 8k miles for under $20k)

Are they really marking them up? This is MSRP on the sticker, not a reduced price. Also, you can't really compare the price of a new car with a used car.

this is the exact car I am trying to decide between. Both of these cars have there plus's and minus's. I like the styling of the camaro just a little better than the genesis, but I still think they both look great.

Engine wise, I am certain the genesis coupe will take to mods better than the camaro's v6, and not only that, i THINK that the v6 in the genesis definetely feels stronger.

Interior, camaro has a very plain feeling to it, and not only that, visibility out the car sucks. especially trying to look behind. Genesis has muchy better visibility.

So coming from also the gencoupe.com forums, it is really difficult to get an unbiased opinion on which car is truely better, for an enjoyable 2 door sports coupe.

I am more looking into the Camaro LT2 with the RS package or the Base 3.8 genesis coupe.

Ahh.... You do realize the Camaro is making the power it does on Regular? That 3.6 LLT is an extremely advanced engine, From graphs I have seen on this very site is also running pig rich. Yet the 3.8L in the Genesis coupe makes only 2 more Hp. A Dyno tune to 93 Octane and the picture will become alot clearer.

The Very slight difference in acceleration between these two cars comes down to the weight not the engines. The 3.6L in the Camaro has everybit as much potental as the 3.8L from the Genesis Coupe. It's just a matter of tuners supporting it and time.

The Genesis is one of the ugliest cars on the road. Seriously if it wasn't fun to drive who would want it????

The genesis runs on regular Also, the Genesis biggest advantage is it's weight advantage, equal mods and equal power and it is always going to be quicker. I would easily take a Genesis V6 over a Camaro V6, but I want a V8 so i am looking into the Camaro 1SS.

Fixed

I would walk before I purchased anything from Hyundai. Anyone considering a Genesis instead of a Camaro does not deserve to be a Bowtie owner.
