Car has over 125k and a untouched stock short block. Actually I dont think the heads have even been pulled. FYI the rods on the LS1 are not as strong as those in our LS3's. He also beats the sh!t out of the car. Goes to the track often and runs 10's consistently.
125k on boost? and lots of track time?

I don't think so.

So you're saying a stock LS1 has 125,000 miles on it BOOSTED and has survived those 125k miles being abused at the track CONSTANTLY?

How is an aftermarket SC different than the ZL1 setup? GM obviously stands behind that.

When engineers design a car , the tolerances are set for hp/trq that it comes with. In the case of a zl1 they know its supercharged so they build accordingly. The camaro is designed for 400 hp. When you bolt on an extra 120hp that the car is not designed for , lets just say your not helping it last longer. At best you will speed up the decaying process, and that's best case scenario. I earlier stated 100k is when you can expect trouble. My version of trouble is getting rid of the car because it won't be worth rebuilding it. Before it reaches 100k I would expect many things to break along the way. I drive cars hard

In essence Gm has significantly detuned the car from its full potential. They also have upgraded Fuel supply, Injectors, and the rear end of the car.

Compression is also much lower which helps in wear and tear of the car.

I am not an expert but at least know some things. Others will chime in with more info.

I know someone who has 200k mile sbe ls1 with a d1 that hes had on it for about 6 years.. went through 2 built trannies but the sbe hasnt given in. I think hes in the 500+ range, only thing he changed was ARP rod bolts, and supporting cam only swap parts. He does use meth tho.

No, probably about 60k+ boosted miles. 125K+ total on odometer. I would guess tracked 6 times a year for 6yrs boosted. Tracked as in 1/4 not road racing or anything. I think the reason you dont hear about more cases like this is poeple get greedy. When is the last time you heard of someone who stayed less than 9psi and didnt want more. With the majority of poeple they push it with more power and boost when problems arise or they do a rebuild before going any further. Plus he is on meth 100percent of the time and race gas at the track. Guy is on his 3rd tranny and 2nd rear end but the motor stays strong.

Friends bone stock besides wheels ZL1 blew up last night. So saying a motor will last XXXXX is just a guess. His bone stock LSA didn't make it to 10k miles before it blew up last night. Oil, metal chunks, and top of piston sitting on the ground. Good thing it is under warranty.

Nope, oil was changed by the dealer on schedule and nothing but good gas. Just a freak failure. If you can't afford something like that to happen be careful playing the mod game. Nothing is for sure on how long it will last.
