I have a CAI brand on my 2LT and I installed it in less than an hour and I am certainly no auto mechanic. They are really easy to install with a basic socket set and screwdriver even for a novice. They don't need a tune and should not cause any real warranty concerns.

I'm gonna go the CAI route; thank you all again for the help, I feel much more confident in what I'm doing now after reading all the posts and I'm hoping to have purchased n installed my new intake by next weekend

If a tune is done at a Chevy performance center ( whether basic performance or IPF etc...) will the warranty still be void even though it was performed at at Chevy dealership?

Do a search on the CAI warranty, there is some law others have cited where a CAI will NOT void any warranty... of course once you tune the car, that's a different story.

I was told not to worry bout the cai, I'm asking if an actual tune is performed by Chevy if the warranty is voided by the tune despite the fact Chevy will do it

A Chevy dealership may choose to honor warranty with a tune that they perform (though most dealerships don't have resources for full dyno tune, but can do hand held tunes), but this agreement is between the dealership and you. The warranty with GM is technically voided, and the dealership assumes responsibility for cost of further warranty repairs. The dealership will attempt to get GM to cover repairs, but if GM requires an ECM log, the dealership is on the hook for the costs. Likewise, if you breakdown away from home and end up attempting warranty work at a different dealership, the second dealership may not honor the warranty.

Intake headers exhaust throttle body will not void your warranty except on the parts you replace if you tune you void powertrain warranty any time there is a claim gm asks for a log of the ecm if your dealers says they will honor the warranty get it in writing but tha install is super easy there are several diy videos most dont require a tune halltec and vararam have a model that needs tuning but unless youre doing heads cam i dont think the tune model is worth it mho
