Don't think a Z/28 will show up in this Gen...Car has to be lighter, set up for the track, and have a high-winding small block...Hopefully the next Gen Camaro will do the Z/28 more justice...

Like Cpt Awesome I think the sheet metal stays the same. It cost WAAAAAY too much to change that. Too much for a mid life crisis I mean refresh.

I HIGHLY doubt that it will change my feelings but I am supposed to take delivery of my 1LE in a couple of weeks here... so I'm a touch torn right now.

While I agree with that... wasn't the original Z28 with the 302ci a '67? That would almost mandate if they were trying to be true to history that it would have to be this gen because it is retro to that body style.

It's almost like this body should be on the Alpha platform. Then what about the motor? GM's main "High Reving Motor" is the LS7 or the 427ci. That's only 125ci or 2L more than that old 302... So then maybe they wouldn't mind throwing it in this current fat arsed pig... which consistently handles better than it should. Also how light can a car be and still give the safety features required and the creature comforts desired? Is the 3600+ lb Mudstain really that light? When I was coming up anything over 3K lbs was considered a pig. Now we are happy to stay under 4K lbs.

So in one hand I can see them want to stick with tradition in the other they can send it to hell.

I'm curious what they will do as far as a Z28 goes I most likely won't be in the market for one but I still like it when GM flexes it's muscle.

Not saying they have to re-create history, but I have heard the next gen may come with an LT-4...a 5.7 ltr v-8 option...I just think now any z/28 would be in name only, and be hard pressed to find a niche with this generation....dunno...

They may or may not feature the new 2nd Gen mylink in the 2014 model.

I've seen these refreshes before and more times than not they try so hard to make the car look different without changing any sheet-metal that they end up totally ruining the look of the car.

Especially an iconic styled car where they slap on a new set of headlights and fascias and the car ends of looking like the previous year model with an autozone bumper kit on it.

I'll bet you a paycheck* they have an LS7 Camaro for 2014, whether or not it gets the Z28 name isanother thing but I don't see why GM would call it anything else. Too many obvious facts have been leaked, so for me it is a given, LS7 for 2014.

To call this a slight refresh would be the understatement of the century. It would however energize the used Camaro market.

An LS7 would not have that big an impact as we'd like to think. The car would likely be 50k+, at that price the market becomes much more limited.

I'll throw my two cents in here...

I expect the refresh to be similar to that of the 1996 to 1997 ('97 models received a redesigned interior, tail lamp assemblies and wheel design) and 1997 to 1998 Camaro (redesigned front bumper cover, hood and fenders) in one refresh.
I realize 1998 also saw the LT1 replaced by the LS1, but I'm not sure about the LS3 being replaced by the LT1. Although I have no doubt the LT1 will power the Camaro at some point in the near future.

I hope GM revives the 5.7 l displacement. If the LT1 leaves a lot on the table performance wise, a 5.7 l LT built to full potential would be awesome. No AFM, CNC heads, barely legal cam, high rpm and good exhaust manifolds.

I guess we'll see how "refreshed" this version is, probably not anything I'm going to care about. I would much rather save the revisions for the 6th gen - when it will be time to move up.
agree
