Well, I would be less happy with it if I,personally, made the initial investment into the shortblock and bolt ons. I got the car for a good deal, but feel like the numbers should be higher for what it is. I may have this thing whippled sooner rather than later.

Due to the size of your motor, I would recommend a centri style blower.
I'm not saying that you couldn't do a PD style blower, but your throttle response and down low torque #'s are gona be silly, and your gona be choked for hp on the big end. We got a project in from a shop that went out of business, twas a 427 with an e-force on it. I'm not at the shop right now but i remember our torque #'s being 100lb/ft higher than our hp #'s and the car was undrivable in 1st or second gear anywhere past half throttle. Yet you wold have wanted/expected more hp towards the top of 3rd 4th gears and it wasn't quite there. Now this is definitely an extreme analogy, and the whipple is on the other end of the spectrum in the PD blower world. But its something to keep in mind. Thanks Mike Haddad |

I didnt read the whole thread but here is my personal opinion. I run 8psi on an 10.8:1 CR motor, its an LS7 bottom end with LS3 heads and a TVS2300 front drive.
You could run 8psi and make really nice power with a high compression 427, dont worry about the low boost figure, boost will be low on a 427 since its just the measure of restriction. Make sure however that you're cam has something like an intake closing event of 45 degrees ABDC to keep the dynamic compression ratio in a good spot. If you have the ability to run a whipple 2.9 that would be even better! Goodluck.

Thanks for all the.good advice. I suppose I've got more reading to do. I really don't want to make this thing so high in the numbers that I can't drive it on the street, but would really like to kit the 600's in the HP department.

Since you've already invested in the FAST intake and 102mm TB, I'd look at getting a centri blower. That will keep the street manners you want, but give you the blistering speed you want, when you want it. Plus, they are easier on the tranny and rear end.

Procharger F1 series, Vortech YSI, or ECS novi. But i think you wanted to keep the boost low so you would have to run fairly large pulleys on these big blowers or just go with a D1SC but if you want to grow....you will not be able to....much but with your 11:1 CR you will be able to get near 800rwhp with the D1SC.

I really like the Procharger and the YSI's, so I would have to flip a coin if it was my build. Unfortunately, in CA, both of those are big no no's. I went with the Maggie just in case I had to pop my hood, it wouldn't be an instant ticket. I hate this state...... No matter which one you go with, you will be making all the power you need, and still have room to grow if, er, when you want more. Thanks for the compliment on the car. It's still a work in progress, just like the rest of them.

For sure. Ill have a few things to do when the time comes. Cam and fuel system are first on the list. I'll be plucking away at suspension components throughout the Spring, so I should be ready for the blower later in the year.

I run that very combo. 4.1 inch stroked LS3. The only real potential weakness in this combo is no longer the piton skirt issue but actually the thickness of the crown of the piston because of the wrist pin being moved up the accommodate the longer stroke. 10 psi is commonly set as a safe level of boost. I run just under 7 with a tvs 2300. I selected this combo because of the tremendous torque. Really fun on the street and is no slouch on the track either. Mine is not an aggressive combo but is at the 600 WHP mark. I don't run 11-1 cr but I'm sure yours will make a bit more power per pound of boost at the cr. I also run an auto behind mine so your power level will be about 5 percent higher plus the higher compression. It should be awesome assuming you have the fuel to support it.
