Finally getting boosted!
Well folks, after YEEEEEARS of dreaming/waiting, the moment I thought might never happen is finally about to become a reality. I had been mulling over getting some CNC-ported heads for a while but knew I always wanted to get "blown" and figured I'd do it after paying off the car later this year. However, when Michael (s/n "Z69") mentioned he was selling his Maggie 2300 that he originally planned to put on his '69 Camaro with an LS3 (for a great price), I could not resist. After doing the math, I found I could pay off my SS now with the money I would have used on the heads and skip right to the really fun stuff, with the assistance of my boys at Lashway Motorsports...
First off, all the kit was missing, besides a couple heater hoses and clamps, was a valley pan, which we are still waiting on (should arrive by Wednesday). In the meantime, I'll be having my dual valve springs replaced, since they have almost 25K miles on them now, along with getting the other parts installed that can be done before then. When all is said and done, I'm hoping for between 550-600 rwhp. Now, before anyone says "that's it?," I gotta give just a little background on my SS here. From day one, it appears mine has always been a "dyno-dud" making, with full bolt-ons and [at the time] E-mail tune from Vector Motorsports, only about what most stock SSs make. BTW, the dyno numbers in my signature are on a Dynojet, which reads about 4% higher than the Mustang Dyno Lashway uses. Maybe I should have broken it in a bit harder than I did when I got it (?), but too late for that now. We discussed possibly switching to a blower cam and I might, down the road. However, I do like the cam I have now (even though it was designed more for LS3 Corvettes), since it made good gains throughout the entire powerband, has great driveability, and sounds ridiculously good. It has just a little (4 degrees) overlap, so I'm aware it will bleed a little boost, but I'm okay with that; 'not looking to set any records here. We may jump up to a slightly smaller pulley to make up the lost boost, but try to keep it at or under 8 psi. The other issue that may have to be addressed is my 4.10 gears. When I got them, I never thought I'd be getting boosted, but now they may be a bit too much--I guess I'll soon find out though! I imagine I'll likely end up going back to stock 3.45s or 3.70s and fatter rubber, eventually, as traction will be hard to find. I'm also still running on a stock driveline (save for bushings) and clutch, which I imagine are also living on borrowed time--another reason I want to keep power at or under 600 rwhp...Anyway, sorry for writing a book, but I'm pretty excited, obviously. As Josh@Lashway told me (with an almost evil smirk), I have no idea what I'm in for (but can't wait to find out! ).

Thanks. I don't doubt it... except when I look at how much I'll be spending on tires (as if it wasn't enough already!
). If everything holds together, my next purchase might be a beater for DD.

Did I read your signature right? You got a 1.65 60' with stock tires?! If so, what's your secret?

That's correct. The same night I also cut a 1.68. There is video of it in the quick 60' thread section. I have learned a pretty good method for slipping the clutch. It took a long time to get there though. Practice, practice, practice.

Thanks for the support, guys! A few updates...
Lunatti dual .650-lift springs getting replaced with PRC dual .650-lift springs. The old springs have about 24K miles on them, but still look good. If anyone wants to buy them for spares, let me know...; Radiator removed for heat exchanger install; Josh removing the stock fuel pump to be replaced with ZL1 pump...

The valley pan should arrive this afternoon (knock on wood). If everything goes as planned, install should be complete and tuning started (if not finished) tomorrow.
