I already knew my current event code and TPW before I called them, but I wanted to hear a GM person tell me. Instead I got a vague answer. Not exactly customer service if you ask me. If they do not give out event code status or TPW's, why do they bother to have the CS line?
Because it's a Customer Assistance line, not a "for the leisure of Camaro buyers" line. Their purpose is to assist people with warranty and recall inquiries and basic vehicle info. Until the Camaro came along, checking with DBC for order status was perhaps 1% of the job. You want to know how to reset your oil life meter? Call Customer Assistance. You want to know whats going on with your order? Talk to your dealer.

Well I guess they should advertise it as warranty and recall assistance only and setup a website that allowed a person to check thier own numbers. GM setup the "preorder" for the camaro and they should have seen this coming. Since many camaro enthusiasts took the chance back in October to commit to buying a Camaro without driving or even sitting in one, they at least could have made it easy for a buyer to know where the order stands. I know it is not a perfect world and not every buyer has the luxury to have a dealer that updates them, so a reliable lookup would be nice. Kind of a too late deal now since many are already done.

Say you pre-order a game from EB Games. It is published by...oh say Electronics Arts. Now, when you want to know the status of your order, do you call EB Games or Electronic Arts? You're waiting for a new Verizon phone. Are you calling Samsung, or Verizon?

I totally agree. There is a network of 7500 dealers for just this purpose.

I agree with some of your statements... HOWEVER, my dealer doesn't understand what Workbench is. He doesn't know how to look my order up, and to give me a status.

Does that mean I shouldn't order from him? No. It means that I'm stuck trying to get some poor dealer on this board to look up my order number, or to call CS and pray they can give me accurate information.

A very valid point. Definitely. My suggestion in that case would be to talk to the person who does the vehicle ordering, or the general manager. Or have your "know-nothing" salesperson call DBC. Thats always the best option in my opinon. DBC has very little to say to CAC. This is by design. Dealers get good, solid info from DBC if it is available. Then they can choose what to tell the customer. If you go the CAC route, there's no choice. The info you're given is restricted.

I wouldn't bet a nickel on what CAC told me.

I'm getting factory stripes, so I'm not optimistic about making it through before factory break. I thought with the early "3400" I might get to "3800" before July 1 holiday and striped afterwards and out the door before break. Yeah it could be a lack of updates, but I'm not going to get my hopes up!
