Bumper plastic material?

Does anyone know what type of plastic the bumpers are made from and what would be best to use to fix a crack on the lower front bumper?

Thanks!

I think thermoplastic polyolefins (TPO) are used since they switched from polyurethane a while back but to be sure just ask someone in the dealers body shop.

Looks like it's TEO according to this thread.

Trying to fix this crack... any ideas on how to go about this? If I can get it fixed I can get my bumper painted pretty cheap...

The facia is TEO. Most places repair them with epoxy adhesives designed for this purpose but I'm not sure of it's strength in a crack like that. If you can find someone who can plastic weld, it can be reinforced with a wire mesh and welded. Then you can use the resin to do the finish work like body filler. The thing is it's a lot of labor so unless you can do it yourself it might be worth buying a new facia.

That's what I was afraid of... My cousin does stuff like this for a living so I am thinking he can help me if I can get the right type of rods, then my other cousin can paint it where I had to sand it down. I just don't have the funds for a $500 fascia at this time so trying other avenues. It's been fixed twice before (for free) but it wasn't fixed from the back and they're not going to fix it again. I think I could find the right plastic and use a soldering iron and wire mesh and bond it back together front and back, and that should get it to be strong enough.... I hope at least.

Side note.... I love your pistol grip shifter Looks awesome and it has been on my mod list for quite some time.

You can get the manual applicator on ebay for a decent price. The total should be around $80 for the epoxy and applicator.

If you look up some tutorials online for using the epoxy, you can figure out pretty quick if its something you want to try on your own.

Good luck man

Thanks for the suggestion. I have been glued (no pun intended ) to YouTube recently watching videos of how to take this on. Doesn't look terribly bad and if I screw it up I can at least get it repaired for a short time again...

You can use a soldering iron if you find a wide tip. If there is anyone around you heavy into dirt biking or road racing they often know or know of someone that can plastic weld, they may be able to help you out. If you try to repair ir yourself there is a filler rod called Fiber Flex that works very well on the facia's, it's what I used on all my mod's. You can purchase it on line from Urethane Supply Co. It's inexpensive .

Thank's on the shifters.

That's the exact brand I was looking at.. I will just get a bunch of rods that will go to waste. It's only 20 bucks for like 30 rods so maybe I'll find a use for them down the road.
