That would be great if it did! Maybe the problem is you must have steering wheel controls as well in order to use it :(
Ahh didn't think about that. Actually, I'm not sure if this is the same bluetooth that is used to make calls. I think the bluetooth in this one might just be A2DP to connect to audio players (iPhones and some other smartphones for example) that support it.

Could be, good point.

Although it wouldnt make a whole lot of sense to have 2 different BT adapters, I dont think that would be right? Your phone would see 2 different things then wouldnt it? Unless the actual BT is somewhere else and this box only handles the language for the A2DP? I dunno, where's the dam service manual already

If that works then the only other item i would like to add is steering wheel controls. I wonder if gm wired it up for that as well.

Like I said, it does display song info in the main deck, and shows that a song is playing... I just cant get audio.... from the AUX or from the USB.

I tried pairing my phone with the bluetooth, but I had some problems......I could see "General Motors" as a visible device in the bluetooth connections screen on my phone, but when I tried to connect to it I got some kind of error.

If I get some time I will reconnect the PDIM and try it again. In the meantime, you might want to make sure you have the connector that plugs into (powers) the PDIM. It sits kind-of under the shifter, torwards the back of the console. There is a little resting place for the PDIM there. I would imagine your AUX cable runs through there somewhere.
If this is a successful install, we should expect it to act exactly the same in any other Camaro. If we can get songs to display on the radio with the PDIM in a stripper trim, then we are successful.

Let's try to get a video or an instructional picture guide. That will help us do this install at home if it works.

Well it's two separate "profiles" and in fact the phone basically makes two separate connections. Pretty sure you have to pair it twice. So that fits in nicely with my assumption.

If you have to pair it twice that may be the case, most all of the Bluetooth stuff with A2DP I've worked with (which are quire a few) it's a single connection.

You set the device to viewable, have your phone search for devices, connect to the one device found, you're done.

If while searching on your phone for new devices when you're in the Camaro it finds 2 (one for calls one for A2DP) then there would be 2 different BT adapters in the vehicle, which would be pretty odd. I've set them up in a few different cars, and a couple aftermarket stereos with BT, none of them had 2 separately discoverable BT connections, even if they did support A2DP.

Odd does not mean impossible though. If someone could check with their Camaro with factory Bluetooth and see if they get one or two that would be good info to have.

But did those devices have A2DP AND hands-free calling support? I think it may be a requirement of the standard. I think 2 profiles requires 2 pairings.

I'm speaking profile as in sync relationship, not software within the individual unit's BT.

So sounds like the Camaro very well may have 2 separate BT devices, one for calls, one for music.

So if this box does have integrated BT (was there anything in the FCC info that looked like it had a BT radio? I wouldn't know what to look for there) it probably handles one or the other. It's also possible it still wont work for BT without other components though.

This is correct, codeman (who worked on this project for GM) posted it in another thread here that there are 2 seperate BT modules, one for handsfree calling only, and the other is the A2DP/PDIM module for music.

Thanks Rogue Leader, that's awesome insight, wish I had caught that before!

It's strange to me to use 2 different radios for it, but not like it's the end of the world to add one more sync relationship

So the PDIM module has BT in it and it's the one that handles A2DP? If no additional controllers are needed that would be great. Will try to see if I can get in touch with codeman if he's around for clarification.

Thank you!

Heh... all this askin around and I'm not even planning on using it... Man, is it curiosity or OCD lol
