It killed the Boss, and decided to stay around to gloat.

1LE is still in the cards for 2014. Very good value.

Or they screwed up his order and when they realized the mistake had to reorder it.. It's happened before.

Is it a Z/28 without the LS7? I think I know the answers to those questions technically but I just pose them because I feel as though the general public wouldn't know and that this sub-model suffers from kind of an identity crisis. I'm just it's a great car but...
I always viewed it as just a track pack, similiar to how Ford offers a track pack on the Mustang. I think it has been promoted/advertised in a way that makes it confusing. It's really no different than RS. One is visual, one is performance. Both are options, neither is a model.

1LE isn't the same price range as a Boss 302, never understood why those were "competing models." I think a GT w/ track pack and SS w/ 1LE is where they should line up in a head-to-head comparison.

The 1LE slaughters the GT track pack, so it's almost not worth the time to compare them...but it also bests a Boss 302 Laguna Seca around a road course. Chevy realized this early on and took advantage of promoting their $37,000 1LE's advantage over the $49,000 Mustang Boss LS "track car".

Magazines fed into it with many comparisons and head-to-heads.

Can't blame them.

No doubt if the Boss LS still existed, and there were no 1LE, magazines would probably put the Z/28 up against the Boss....

Brought back an old memory reading that. '83 Trans Am came in in 5 weeks I had ordered, Watched it roll off the truck on my way home from work. No call, went by the dealer the next day. My car & options to a T except it was an auto. Even had the 3.73 posi axle when the auto's were 3.43 iirc. Might be remembering the ratios wrong, but you get the idea, oddball, not a generic stock order. Pretty stripped down TA as I could barely afford it at the time.

6 weeks later I had my 5 speed. They never admitted they screwed up the order. :-/

Wait for the 13 or wait longer for an ugly 14? The choice is simple.

My do sales people BS their customers like this?
Orders are based on weekly allocation. They can order certain cars on certain weeks. Just because you order a car from a dealership doesnt mean that the order gets accepted right away. You place your order, it goes into the system, as soon as that dealership gets allocation for that particular model, it gets scheduled to be built.
Your dealer probably doesnt have a 1LE allocation available till the end of the build out or it might get bumped back to a 2014 model, like a lot of the ZL1 orders.

Since the 1LE is an option package and not a separate model I don't think there would be allocations. At least I have never heard that.
They may be constrained but that would not have anything to do with dealer allocations either.

With the 1LE being such an amazing value of a car beating the likes of the mustang boss wouldn't you think GM would have called it the "Z28" that us average folks could afford.

So have you been waiting any time already for the car or did you just literally put the order in for it?

Honestly like was said if you want a 2014 you are going to be waiting a lot longer, probably right to the beginning of winter. If you have your order in for a 1LE and the car is already in the system for production you just have to wait and be patient. At least this way you can actually drive your car THIS summer instead of taking delivery of a car just before winter and then having to look at it for the six months complaining on here about how you are not able to drive it.
