When you live in New York, you really don't have much of a choice. But I will always have a "winter rat" or 2nd vehicle even if I move down south. Driving a 2013 Cruze right now. Will buy an SUV once I graduate college and get a good job.

Ya, wished I would have kept my 2005 Ford Escape, sold it last month and it only had 50K miles. Dumb!

yup, got a 98 Gmc Jimmy here, nothing special. Has 30k miles on it and picked it up for almost nothing. It will be around for a long time.

I learned years ago that having a car like my SS for my only vehicle does not work for me.

I have an Olds Alero for really bad days but I do drive the Camaro in the rain. Camaro really isn't a garage queen though.

2004 Silverado Z71 crew cab 4x4 and a 2001 GMC Jimmy take care of our winter needs.

2000 Olds Intrigue is my DD. My Camaro sits in the garage waiting for a nice, sunny day.

Are you serious? That's so messed up. Not sure why anyone not paying the bill on your car gets to have an opinion on it, let alone leave a note about it. That would really piss me off.

For most of the last dozen years we've been able to maintain at least one "extra" car for use during winter weather conditions when either the RWD car I have now or the 1979 Malibu I had before it would have been at a disadvantage. These extra cars - currently a 2001 Maxima 20th Anniversary and a 1995 Mazda 626, both V6, both manual tranny - also serve as "spares" for use while either of the primary DD's is being worked on, or as occasional loaners to either of our kids.

These "extra" cars are the cars we bought new ourselves, maintained with an eye toward performance rather than lowball cost, and kept rather than traded or sold privately. So it has never felt like we're taking a step down to drive them.
