23.3 is nothing to sneeze at, especially for a 304hp 3800lb pony car. Yes, shifting at 1500 ought to help, and you'll still be passing everyone on the road shifting at 1500...unless you drive in NYC.

You are right, 23.3 is not bad. Just expecting better since I know what my G8 GT is capable of and I thought there would be a bigger difference between the two.

Picked up last night. Now have 56 miles on it, no highway yet, averaging 22.9, but I know it's still too early to make an accurate judgement.

A 60 mile (round trip) highway run gave me 26.8 car only has 156 miles as of right now.

That is pretty good and we don't even have synthetic oil in as a factory fill. That will help a small amount.

V8s come with full syn and we get dino oil as factory fill. So I am sure many of us will switch over to full syn.

Ok did my first calcuclation by hand. Probably a little more back road driving this time. 60% back road 40% highway. Computer says 21 avg.
Used the same pump as my last fill up
15.434 gal
319.2 miles

20.68mpg
