Did anyone with the brake dust issues do the burnishing procedure recommended in the owners manual. After I did that the brake dust was reduced by 90%.

I upgraded the brake fluid before my first track day using Wilwood EXP 600 Plus Racing Brake Fluid. I have had NO brake fade at all and just finished two days at Sebring where we put over 200 miles on the track with myself and pro's driving the car. Change the fluid if you are going to be tracking the car. The calipers are really, really nice. Take care.

I thought that I had burnished my brakes according to the instructions as well. Until John Heinricy drove me around Sebring. Repeated braking from 135 mph took care of burnishing the brakes for me. He asked me afterward if I had burnished them and I told him what I had done. He told me that they were not burnished but they are now. Still a lot of brake dust.

If you park the car after "burnishing" the pads and don't smell a heavy odor of brake you usually have to do it again due to the pads not being correctly bedded and the rotors not seasoned (heat cycled). You can also feel the increase in grip thru the pedal when they are done correctly. Did you get up to at least 80-90 mph and stomp on the brakes? I remember the smell afterwards.

Honestly no, but I drove around for half an hour to cool them off afterward. I drove to 20, stopped then 40 and stopped then 60 and stopped. I most likely did not not do a good job with them. My instructor kept telling me that I was 'Babying' the brakes. I did not think that was the case until John drove the car. Then I knew I had not seen the potential of these great brakes. I could smell them when he was done. The smile still has not gone away.

It would be really nice if it was true but I have not seen any difference since Sebring. They still get very dirty pretty quick. I did see that Adams Car Care just released a new Deep Wheel Cleaner for high metal, high performance brakes. It seems to be designed especially for our type of high metal content brake dust. I will let you know how it works after it comes in and wash my wheels.
