First off, it sounds like a 4 or a 6 cylinder, and no I am not just saying that to get people mad, It truly does.

Second, some videos make it look slower than Christmas and others make it look like its leaping off of the ground, it seems as if, by pavement and time of day, this was several different versions of a " Black Camaro"

Last, getting your can whipped like that by a Prissy Convertible Porsche, which was NOT a 4S, if you slow the video down to look, it was a 2S, is SAD SAD SAD. My old 1992 RS 25th Anniversary would take a Porssche to the edge and if I would have had more motor, it woulda have inked them a new badge.

This car has more tire noise than a Hyundai Accent and more body roll than a 89 Mustang GT.

Lord, I hope the production version is better than this!

P.S., I used to help build Panoz Esperante's and know a few things about tuning, handling, and track testing... This video is simply embaressing, as a former Camaro-lover... Long live my '07 Mustang GT (My first Ford, thanks to GM).

GM will miss the mark , ala 1973, only this time the gas crunch will cause the appearance of a 4 cyl turbo, called a Berlinetta, it might as well have thick chrome bumpers and and 14inch whitewalls. GM is notorious for waiting until the prime has passed, and dolling out cars during Economic / Fuel Crisis. This Camaro is no different. Where was GM when the question was asked, " What do we do about the Mustang Competition? " and the answer was, " We don't care, lets focus building an inferior Australian car, call it the GTO, put the fuel tank in the trunk, for safety regs, and hope someone likes it."

The GTO had worse handling and weight distribution than its Australian counterpart, and it was priced 2 times as high as the far better Australian Monaro HSV.

Are we doomed to repeat ourselves with the Camaro? What is taking them so long? These photos and videos are exciting, sure, but the more I see of it, the more I realize... GM has dragged its feet so long, I fear the Fuel Crunch will kill it before its had a chance to run... Fortunately, Ford built something early enough that I could enjoy it... at least until today when Fuel hit 3.49 a gallon for 87..

Last, on my drive to Florida, my Automatic Mustang GT acheived an average of 26.4 MPG at 70 mph from Atlanta. Additionally, I have photos to prove it... Do you think the Camaro will come close?

The new 2008 Mustang GT will be a Twin-Turbo V6 option (according to insiders) and they are already producing an ALL GLASS roof for V6 and GT models, alike...(Shelby was first). Camaro won't have this option, will it?

Where are they on a Camaro TTV6? T-Top Camaro? Glass Roof? Back at the drawing board? Why is no one asking these hard questions? I refuse to give GM a pass on this.

Yes. It will have AFM so highway cruising should match or exceed that.
The new 2008 Mustang GT will be a Twin-Turbo V6 option (according to insiders) and they are already producing an ALL GLASS roof for V6 and GT models, alike...(Shelby was first). Camaro won't have this option, will it?
We've discussed this.
Where are they on a Camaro TTV6? T-Top Camaro? Glass Roof? Back at the drawing board? Why is no one asking these hard questions? I refuse to give GM a pass on this.
A TTV6 could be under development for all we know.
T-tops are a no go because of the reverse mohawk.
The general consensus here is that we don't really like the glass roof, we prefer the reverse mohawk
C3
As for the other stuff you've said, no this is not a GM buzz site.
The car is for testing, it won't be perfect.
There will be a sunroof, and a convertible as alternatives to a glass roof which would be expensive, heavy, and reduce structural strength.
I've never heard a V6 or I4 sound like that.
They are likely testing to reduce tire squeal, body roll, and other handling issues that you have brought up.
We have no idea what trim level this is so we can't judge what its performance should be
It is unlikely that they are pushing the car to the limit right now.

If you ignore "him", he will go away.

I am very pleased with the video, looks great, sounds great, and I am willing to wait until the new Camaro hits the market. This car is going to be "HOT".

Awesome! This car's goint to blow the Mustang off the road! It should out handle both the Mustang and Challenger because I don't remember seeing either of them test at the 'Ring.

Personally, I DO think the Camaro will come close. Probably BEAT the Mustang in both performance AND fuel economy. My 'Vette get's 27 MPG with the criuse set on 80! Thanks for playing!

Its getting closer. Anyone hear the official start of build? The last I heard the 30 or so roll off the line in October. One can assume that these are the crash test dummies.

Likin' the car more every time I see it. Hopefully they'll get that suspension tuned up. And that is a V8.

Gee, C3, were you even alive in 1973? GM was putting out the worst crap during those times that they ever made. It was much more than a fuel crisis. If they produce vehicles like that again, they will be a subsidiary of Isuzu.
And don't worry, that V6 Twin turbo will get probably the same gas mileage as a similar powered V8. And as usual most car manufacturers that have made turbo v6 engines didn't keep them very long except the $100,000+ sticker price ones because they soon become a terrible maintenance nightmare.
As far as a roof goes I'd rather have a hardtop on my car anyway. I had a T-top Camaro and I got tired of wearing swim trunks just to drive the car. And I'm sure that 500 pound glass top will do wonders for that hi-po motor.
No flame intended, just some opinions. And you know the old saying about that.
