Big sigh of relief...

The only glaring flaw is right between the speedo and the tach but it's not that bad. Maybe there's even time to fix it but I don't think so,

The DIC wasn't appealing?
Thanks for the info!

Here's a pic of a '69 dash. Boy, this brings back memories:

I guess in some '69 models there was a clock in there, but mine didn't have it.

First off, it sounds like a 4 or a 6 cylinder, and no I am not just saying that to get people mad, It truly does.

Second, some videos make it look slower than Christmas and others make it look like its leaping off of the ground, it seems as if, by pavement and time of day, this was several different versions of a " Black Camaro"

Last, getting your can whipped like that by a Prissy Convertible Porsche, which was NOT a 4S, if you slow the video down to look, it was a 2S, is SAD SAD SAD. My old 1992 RS 25th Anniversary would take a Porssche to the edge and if I would have had more motor, it woulda have inked them a new badge.

This car has more tire noise than a Hyundai Accent and more body roll than a 89 Mustang GT.

Lord, I hope the production version is better than this!

P.S., I used to help build Panoz Esperante's and know a few things about tuning, handling, and track testing... This video is simply embaressing, as a former Camaro-lover... Long live my '07 Mustang GT (My first Ford, thanks to GM).

You are certainly entitled to your opinion -- but I suspect you didn't have much to do with the building of Panoz Esperantes -- because your observations are that of someone who has never done chassis tuning.

Like someone else said, Pure sex on wheels!!!
That's cool. I was just mentioning the possibility of a 6 'cause nobody else did. The more I listen to it, it seems as if it HAS to be an 8. I know we can't get it, but it'd be nice to get some confirmation one way or another.

EDIT: OK, I answered my own question. Listened to it again with better sound gear. It's a V8. Guess it was the lower displacement and the fact that it wasn't banging close to the limiter that fooled me. My bad - it's just that I was using the Z06 as a benchmark.

as far as trying to estimate performance by the video alone, I know it's pretty much baseless to try to do so - especially without other cars to compare with at-speed - it does look like its pulling pretty hard in some sections of the vid. Nice!

Original post just contained some random thoughts.

One thing is for sure, which I will say again, the handling appears very, very good to me. I'm extremely excited about that!

The car sounds good. But with that damn Porsche 911 ahead of it on the track screaming like a banshee, its really hard to make out the exhaust sound of the Camaro. That's what confused me from the first video. Muscle cars don't scream and whine. Now its easy to see that the Porsche was causing the sound interference. But pulling out of the gas station and pulling into the Nurburgring in the rain, you could make out the V8 burble. Sounds mean.

The car did seem to have a more aggressive turn in then tha G8 it was following towards the end of the film. Lighter weight = harder braking later and quicker around=the-track time?

Ya!!!!...What he said^^^^^^^^^^^^PLeeeezzzzzzzzz

I guess he doesn't know the difference between the sound of a V6 and a V8…hmmm interesting.

One thing "I" (of little test track experience) did notice, was the absences of the sweet sound of a Super Charged car...So base on my VERY LIMITED KNOWLEDGE OF TESTING I thought every was up to par....who wait thats Golf....never mind.

Oh BTW if you didn't know, I've only tested slot track cars / hot wheels and played Forza motor sports on my XBOX 360. So I know next to nothing.

This baby is most definitely a V8. However, I don't believe this will be the exhaust note of the finished product. Kinda sounds/seems to me like the Camaro team muffled the hell out of it so we couldn't decipher the motor they are using. Also, regarding those monsterous mufflers on the back, slap a true dual catback system on there with some pipes and DAMN that car is gonna be seeeeexxxxxxy

So that could be the reason why the sound seems kind of muffled or not as loud as it could/should be.
