That is indeed good news. I am very interested in getting one!

Sadly, with European car taxes based on emission and silly crap like this, affording such a car is a totally different story.

Back in the States, I remember that the taxes were based on purchasing price, which is much more fair than punishing drivers by high car taxes based on emissions. Stupid European laws always get in the way of the personal "pursuit of happiness"...

Look at the types of cars you can get here for roughly 16,000 Euros (guess cars that fall into that categories are: Citroen C3, Hyundai Getz, Honda Jazz, Ford Fiesta, Peugeot 207, Renault Clio, Toyota Yaris, Opel Corsa, Suzuki Swift). Those 'Mickey Mouse' cars are not even worth a mention for the American minded soul, with the Camaro totally being in another dimension.

I am sure that the Camaro will be sold for at least 26,000 Euros and up. Mark my words.. And, I bet that they won't offer the V8 in Europe either.

BTW - according to this German article (http://www.spiegel.de/auto/fahrberic...633959,00.html), the V6 Camaro's MSRP in Germany should be 24,035 Euros (I assume with manual gearbox), which is about $33,600. So much for "no markup"...

If that's a straight Price of car+import taxes+transportation that is good news. If there's a 30% mark up, that won't be good news.

Dear GM, thank you for learning your (and other two of Detroit Three) lesson and treating Europe seriously

24k Euros for V6 would be cool -- it would cost more actually if imported privately (freight, customs, VAT and other fees)

I hope there will be V8. GM Europe has a lot of "emission credits" for current Chevrolet lineup (small-liter Lacetti, Spark, Aveo etc.) and european customers actually CAN appreciate a big, powerful engine -- check out sales of SUVs or sports cars (Audi, BMW), many of them feature a V8 or even V10 under the hood.
It just won't be branded "SS" for sure due to WW2 memories of this abbreviation.

Hey, even if the prices will be insane and it'd be better to import privately, it still means easily available spare parts

I love GM more and more every month this year
First a finally sensible GM Europe/Daewoo compact civic Chevrolet (Cruze), then beautiful and agile-looking Opel Astra IV, announcements of Chevy Volt / Opel Ampera and now this -- Camaro in Europe

I'have already made a testdrive here in the Netherlands last friday.But it came from a import campany not official GM. It was the V6 and the ride/looks were awesome I only want the V8 convertible so I've to wait.
The price those guys were asking was 76000 euro's that's about $100.000 yes we have the most heavy taxes in the world! :(
The V8 wil be about $120.000!
But a USAcarlover like me will not wait for GM to finally come over with the Camaro I import it myself. I gonna go to Florida in feb 2010 and hope to order a vert and be happy to pay even a $100.000 when parked for my door!

How will they be different? I sure hope we'll get the new Camaro here in Finland. I don't know when I'll get back to the states. Would be really cool to see them on the road here. If they sell the Chrysler 300C Hemi for 70,000 euros/ 107,000 USD, gotta believe an SS will sell for at least that cost. More like a 7 series BMW in cost here.

As for the ones saying that there won't be a V8 here, I assure you there will be. When Chrysler can sell the 300C with it's huge weight and bigass HEMI surely Chevy can sell the Camaro with an LS3.

I don't see how that impairs the Camaro look? Mustangs modded for being legal in Europe still look awesome.

Not just a color change. Can't give away what they'll look like but you will be quite shocked and awed. Americans and Canadians will be loudly debating whether they want to acquire them or avoid them at all costs. It will involve a whole new rear bumper skin as well.
