Yeah, don't do this. Pay more and getting farther in the hole for an older car is not a smart move. Save up and buy a SC for your V6.

You need to reconsider this. I just bought a 2012 anniversary 2SS for $26K, but I also traded in a 2007 accord I owed a little on. All in all made about $3k on my trade toward the car. You can return the warranty and recoup it before you trade it, but IDK if $1700 will really make a difference. I would not buy a car at this price range that old. You can get a 2012 for that. Mine had 30k miles btw.

There are plenty of really nice well cared for cars on this site. You could easily find a car dealer in your area that would "in and out" it for you. might cost you 500 bucks or so. I have a friend who is a dealer and he does that sort of stuff for people.

Could also look at cars.com if you cannot find something on here, that way you can search specific cars accross most dealers country wide. Carfaxes listed on there. Here is one I found, 2012, 15k miles, silver SS http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...nal&listType=1

If you can sustain that payment for whatever term i'm assuming 5-6 years, and you plan on keeping it that long, its up to you. If you think there's any chance your going to sell it before hand, no way bro.

I was in a similar situation you are in, however my 2012 charger had been in a bad accident (9k in damages), it was not totaled. After repairs were complete the car was not the same and i had it back to the dealer 6 sepreate times for four different issues all related to the repair work, and this was in the span on 6 weeks. I decided it was time to get rid of it. I was negative 5k on the car because of the accident. I used the money they gave me for lost value as a down payment and covered the rest myself to start off new, and I bought my dream car.

The issue is do you really think you will keep this car for the term and pay off all the negative equity? I'd try to cover that gap with your own funds. GL

I think I really needed to hear all this. An SS for me right now is not a smart decision. I work two jobs (as does my wife) to pay for what we have, and even with 4 jobs total, money is still pretty tight. I would hate to lose a year of car payments and have to start over with a way bigger one. I love my car, and I have no real "need" for an SS. I'm definitely happy with what I have, and I'm really lucky to have it. I think after I pay off my V6, I'm going to find a good used SS. I was initially going to try to find a used ZL1 at that point, but in my income bracket that doesn't make any sense either. So, my mind is made up. Pay off the V6, then it'll be time for a used SS. Then we'll have two Camaros in the family!
Thanks to everybody who chimed in. I greatly appreciate the advice. You guys just saved me a lot of money!

You did the right thing in my mind. Although I have to question why you bought a camaro in the first place if you and your wife are working four jobs and things are financially tight. There are plenty of nice, reliable, new cars out there for less than a new Camaro. But that's just me.

I would go for it.. Even if I am upside down.. I will rather make monthly payments on a car that I truly want. We only live once.

This guy and his wife are both working two jobs, and even with that he states money is still tight and your suggestion is to eat around $5k in negative equity because he likes the V8 version of this current car?

Being upside down straddled with all that debt would have taken all the fun out of your new car in a hurry. Just wait there are lots of SS gen 5 camaro's out there. Also by the time you have paid off your LT you can look at the gen 6 models.

I bought a Camaro because I really wanted a Camaro. I can afford it, and I felt that I deserved a nice car because I work my ass off all week, every week. Money is tight, but we're not broke. My wife and I both have new cars, so that's why the checkbook is a little slimmer than it could be. In a few years, we'll have both cars paid off, and things will be easier then.
And sure, there are plenty of inexpensive and reliable cars out there. I drove one for 11 years straight and it was an excellent vehicle. But I wanted that Camaro, so it's worth the extra money to me. Believe me, I wouldn't have bought it had I not been able to afford it. Not everybody on this forum with a Camaro is rich. Money's tight for a lot of people.
