G8 GT weighs 3995lbs. Camaro will be less. I'm buying it.

Exactly what camaro5 said. If it was over 4000 lbs we'd see a problem, but it will certainly be under 4000 and I think 3700 would be good estimate. I'm OK with that. The thing that encourages me is that in GM's response to the new CAFE regulations, they've talked a lot about reducing the weight of their performance cars, so while hp might go down, the hp to weight ratio stays comparable. I'm all for that.

Not important to me. It's a fantastic looking car that will have ample power.
It's not like I'll be on a race track with it... |

Probably not, my daily driver is a 2500 diesel truck that weighs 7000 lbs. So even if it weighs 3700 lbs, it will still be like a super skinny super model to me.

Scott said in a previous post that this car would be very "svelte". After seeing all of the prepro pics, especially the one with Scott standing beside it with the door open, I think this car will be smaller and lighter than we know. I personally don't care though, you can adjust the power to rate ratio with a power adder.
The white prepro was mid-level to Scott's chest, this is a small car folks.

I'm not going to make any estimations about the exact weight, I just know it's going to be less than 4000 and that is good enough for me. No ones going to find a faster car that is also lighter, for anywhere near the same price.

The 3995lbs G8 GT gets rave reviews for its handling, is almost as quick as a Charger SRT8 and at least one reviewer said it is quiet enough to hold a normal conversation at 120mph.
I don't know that I'll care if the base V-8 Camaro weighs in at 3900. I think it will still be a better car than the competition. |

I don't really care too much about about weight because it is lighter than the G8 and will have more HP so right there I say its better than anything else out there. Also I wouldn't mind doing a little weight reduction. Spare tire, who needs that LOL jk unless im going to the track, but then i might want weight on the rear? sound deadening material, out the window, rear seat = gone until I have a family.

I'm confident, if by that statement alone, that they are WELL aware of the weight issue; and are doing their utmost to keep it under control. If you look at the side-on Sweden spy photos, there is a distinct difference between it and the concept. It looks like they shortened the car a bit. ![]() Still, 3700lbs isn't going to turn me away. 3800 lbs won't, either. If it becomes 3900lbs +...I'll still be getting it, but not as happily. |

Absolutely does not matter to me, only thing is that hte weight affects the fuel economy. I'm not going to do hardcore racing with this car, this is going to be my everday car but with a nice V8 that has nice acceleration and the sound of doom.
