I don't think you read the rest of the posts except for the first one. Am I correct? In any case, the reason I was thinking of doing that has already been mentioned in my previous posts right from the get go after making this thread. Please read them if you haven't done so, and I am certain you will find the answer you are looking for!

BUT, I wouldnt trade in right now. You might as well use the v6 for a while, seeing as how (just for example), if you trade it in now, you lose 3 grand. But if you trade it in in 6 months or a year, you may only lose 4 grand.

So, you might as well get some wear, mileage, etc out of the money you are losing on the trade. And you can shop for an SS later.
Yesh! That is what I am now planning on doing. I will just wait out till the 6th Gen's come out and then decide if I want a 6th Gen or C7 for my next car as a V8.

And in the mean time I will save up, and enjoy the power of my V6.

You have a few options as others have pointed out, 1. Determine the hit you are willing to accept and sell it privately on autotrader, cars.com, etc. 2. Go back to the dealership if they are good people it will cost you a bit but shouldn't be outrageous. 3. Keep it for a year and then ask if you still want the SS, this allows some time so no quick decisions allows you to get a feel for the car you already have and build some equity.

Good luck!

Same as my Story, what a pain.

I bought a 2LT RS in January. I test drove the V8, unfortunately it was the auto, which for a multitude of reasons, feels slower than the V8 stick. That is how I made my decision also, I was not that impressed with the V8. I later find out its much faster when it breaks in, then I find out about the AFM etc. But this gentleman is looking for a 2ss 1LE. I can tell you first hand it feels alot faster than either the 2SS stick or auto. Alot of info on these threads as to possible reasons. Anyway I tried trading my v6 in and would have taken a bath.

When I bought my V6 with the heritage grill and blade spoiler installed it was about $33000. My payments are 533 a month. They only offered me 26500 for my car. So in addition to losing about 6500 on my car i would have to put down an additional 7000 (To go to the 1LE which was stickered at $40,000 2SS 1LE no rs,) to buy the 1LE and that made it impossible. I didnt mind the 7000 for the 1LE but the 6500 loss is just too much. Suggest you put out feelers to dealer for trade ins. That will get you closer to the deal, or try to sell and buy privately.

The 1LE is awesome, feels much quicker, handles better. GM is doing something a little different with that car. All the facts aren't in the numbers that say it has the same horsepower.

I believe the rear end ratio in the 1LE is different (3.91) giving you more power on the low end, but inceasing the crusing rpms.

So how much did the dealer say it would cost you? Have you tried the dealer where the car is at that you want too?

Just be careful if you do get the V8; in 2 more weeks you might want a Viper (V10).

I have 2 options for you

1. You already have the V6 and it will cost you even if it's just 2 weeks old. So maybe just wait and save up and try to get a ZL1 or Z28 in a few months? Or a brand new SS.

2. Buy V8

pmandeep, I see you have decided to hang on to the V6, I would only suggest in the future take a bit more time deciding what you want before plunking down your hard earned cash. As someone else mentioned rent one for the weekend and drive the crap out of it.
I had to make the same decision and went with the SS and am very pleased and to those that didn't feel the difference, you need to have your butt dyno calibrated.

@CRH83 @DagoCountyGee Yea, that is what I am going to do. Hold on to my V6 and wait to find out how the 6th Gens are going to look.

@Jims Mongoose I completely agree, the difference was too high being 14k for you just to get out of V6 and drop in to 1LE. I wouldn't do it either. I don't doubt that 1LE feels a lot faster, but putting out that kind of difference isn't worth it. You are correct sir.

@ravensjeff I had not asked my dealer about this yesterday. The car 2SS/1LE that I wanted was with Becky but I ended up telling her not to bother working out the numbers since after reading the replies from fellow members and doing some serious thinking over the idea of switching I came to conclusion that I will keep my V6 and enjoy it. Wait and see what 6th Gens will look like in the coming years. If I like em I will get me a V8 6th Gen if not a C7 and keep my current V6 that I have as a daily drive car. This way I can actually keep both cars without putting a hole in my pocket.

@2012-1822 Haha I will keep that in mind on my next one. Thanks for the advice.

@Tweiten Yesh starting to SAVE UP for the next one!!! Holding on to my precious V6.

@jravenfan I completely agree with you and 2012-1822. From this point on will always make sure I do this. Thanks for the advice.

Does you state have a "satisfaction" law that lets you return the vehicle within 30 days if not happy?

If you keep the V6 you will be spending more on mods on a car that you will be trading in for a V8 down the road. Take the hit today and get the V8. Life is short.
