Dont worry about running into a 2010 Gt 500 Ford just told the dealers only 2000 cars will be built for 2010. Let the huge dealers mark ups begin. Hope they make them next year. But with 2008 and 2009 Gt 500's still not selling on dealer lots who knows.

Regardless of that, It still stands to say that anyone thinking they will dust of a GT500 with a stock camaro is in for a rude surprise.....that is if the driver(gt500) can actually drive a bit.... |

Also your running 11.6's crushing vettes, GT500's and Z06's...with a trap of 116, your doing it on the 60'. Not that their is anything wrong with that, getting the power to the ground is part of the game, just don't be expecting to do it roll racing (not saying roll racing is right, just pointing out that it happens)...cam only vettes are trapping 125+, as well as Z06's, so I wouldn't go picking on those guys expecting a kill. And on the hp/$ post saying $20K for a built shortblock, et etc even if you do most of the work yourself....that is an extreme example and can be done much less than this...where I live at least. LPE forged 418ci short block $4800, sell your stock short block $1500-2000 so let say net of $3K cost, TVS 2300 $7000 (your now at $10K), headers, cutouts ($1500), clutch ($1200), DR ($500), CAI ($350), Tune ($300), cam + springs ($700)=$14,550 (when you get a bunch of your best buddy's together to hang out and slap on parts) + new Camaro ss (33K)=$47,550...HP potential of this type motor is easily 700rwhp-900rwhp depending upon how hard you want to lean on it....at this power level for either the GT500 or the Camaro, drivetrain components are going to be a liability, as well as no warranty (assuming the GT500 owner is modding his car to the same powerlevel with say a KB etc...if he is an honest owner, he would consent no powertrain warranty is fair). I didn't include the stock parts you are taking off your car that you could sell to get back some of the funds (intake, clutch, cam, stock intake, etc). JMO.

^Yeah, those cars are like the Supra's of the 90's, extremely simple and cheap to make fast-er...just don't know how much longer cars like this will be around...every manufacturer should follow this concept on at least one of their "sports" cars (forged internals stock).

Yep, I agree. Anyone who thinks they're going to beat a GT500 (with a good driver) with a stock SS is going to be quite surprised. |

No, that's not the argument. That may be true, but most people compare by price, and for about the same price as that Mustang with the 111 less hp, you get 426 hp (would you have us compare the v6 Camaro to the Mustang GT?). What everyone is saying is that it's unfair to compare these two cars with 540 hp and 426, not because the GT500 has more hp, but because its nearly $50k, whereas the Camaro is around $33k.

"only" when it's the Camaro, but it's somehow amazing when it's the GT500, even though it's already supercharged? |

There is more that you get in the price differnce between the GT500 and the camaro ss than what you might think. With the gt500 you can make over 800hp on the stock motor without changing anything out. Everything is forged, cast block, aluminum driveshafts just to name a few.
Sure you could mod a camaro to be faster but good luck replacing stock factory parts that were not made to handle that kind of power. Look at all the people busting drive-shafts, trannies already. Before you know it you will have much more money in the camaro than in the gt500 just modifying parts to handle alot more hp. Plus for an extra $2k if that, you can have a gt500 making over 600rwhp. Hell, stock the 2010's make 510 rwhp. Put $2k in the 2010 and you will be pushing over 650 rwhp. NO, a modded Camaro (ligenfelter, slp, LS7, w/e) will not outrun a slightly modded gt500 making 650 rwhp or around there. Maybe modded with some NOS and a s/c you could outrun a gt500 but your engine might not even last one pass. Yes, I have a 2010 gt500 on order and I have no preference between Dodge, Ford, & Chevy. I actually had a Camaro on order before this. But i did my research and i thought the gt500 was a better choice for me. Not everyone can afford it but if you can it's a good deal IMHO. People on here bashing the gt500 saying it's to much should really do their research before posting. There is alot that the gt500 offers that you have no idea about. |

B) as to your "if you spend that then i'll just spend this" argument ...who cares? everyone knows that you can spend money on any vehicle and make it go faster than something else C) the reason people are "bashing" the gt500 is that at $47k its numbers just aren't all that impressive. i know you can do this or that to it and all that will accomplish is bring us right back to statement B so if YOU want the gt500 then YOU should go buy what YOU want and just be happy you are financially able to make that decision. you don't have to come on here acting like a condescending tool in order to defend your personal preferrence in vehicles to the mustangians lurking on these boards
