Yes something is wrong, the dealer agrees but GM will not do anything.

For performance comparisons, your altitude would be 2000+ ft in Florida in the summer. Heat and humidity have the same effect on performance as elevation above sea level. That's why there's the Density Altitude conversion.

Even so, your not happy with your cars performance. If GM isn't going to do anything, you might have to do it yourself. Your car would most likely perform the way you want with a nice dyno tune by a professional.

But you probably want to keep your car stock (no mods, no tunes, etc). That's the way I see it.

Ok if you want to get attention at gm all you have to do is figure out who to e-mail.

Camaro Product Manager: john.b.fitzpatrick@gm.com

Now you can let him know of your issue. Tell him you are on Camaro5.com and are aware of the issues Scott@Bjorn3D is having along with others with the L99.

And if you look at the e-mail think about it. Scott Sherman would Scott.Sherman@GM.com if I worked there. I think you can figure out people e-mail address.

I am going to elimanate the air filter thought today since I have a K&N that will be here today. Randy and are have a thought if how humid it is down here if the airfilters are getting saturated with water and not letting air flow into the car. The guy that dyno'ed his car kept saying maybe they should take out the air filter and make a run. That was a tune shop guys thought on the air issue.

Maybe letting the car breath easier will fix the issue. Will know later today.

Take it to the track and see what it will MPH with a decent launch. That will tell some.

Exactly, the advertised times are run by professional drivers in cool dry air at a track with special timing equipment. Are you a professional driver? Have you managed to find 40-degree/ 30% humidity air in the middle of a Florida summer? Have you raced at the track with real timing equipment?

I can guarantee the answer is no to every item I listed, so how on earth do you expect to run 4.8 second 0-60? Not to be rude...I'm just being realistic. Wait until the air is cool, go to the track and run your car. I will agree that torque management seems to make the car too docile at launch, but the few good drivers on this forum have gotten past it. I still can't get a sub 2.2 60' launch at the track, so my car looks like an underperformer but I know it is my fault, not the cars. I need to practice more too.

Obviously, you're having trouble with your numbers. I would recommend getting your numbers fixed with a Lingenfelter or Hennessey kit. Seriously, if GM doesn't want to fix your car, I want you to evaluate your goals with the car and consider this.

Lemon Law?... I'm not endorsing it, or even know if it would be possible, but my brother's done that in the past with another car. You're going to need a lot of documentation though I'm sure...

Actually - I think I'd document the numbers from the car from at least a few sources, then maybe retune the car, and see what the numbers are. If the numbers then improve to what most other L99s are, then maybe consider leaving things alone; if they aren't, document and try it.

Tough situation.

Ok here is the story one more time. I had a bone stock 2005 GTO automatic with 400 hp. It ran very well, shifted from 1st to 2nd with a nice chirp of the tires. My son has a 2000 Trans Am non WS6 automatic with a exaust and CAI. From time to time we would line up together and press on the gas WOT side by side and I would pull him out of the whole and finish 4 car lenghts ahead of him. We did the same thing with the Camaro and he pulled me out of the hole and beat me by 4 car lengths. The GTO was tested at about 13.5 1/4 mile times and the new Camaro was tested at 13.10. I was very dissapointed when I found out that the automatic Camaro was coming out with only 400hp and the Manual was 426. I dont care to shift and have always drag raced automatics. My last manual was a 2003 ZO6 and I just got tired of pushing the clutch in, in traffic. I have always had performance cars all my life and I know 400hp when I feel it. I went ahead and spent $46,000 for the Camaro thinking since it was 4 10th's quicker in the 1/4 mile it would be a little faster and that I could modify it. What I really wanted was the Z/28 with the LS7 engine that Chevy never made. So as it turns out I paid alot of money for a car that looks pretty but all and all is not worth the extra $31,000 I spent to trading my GTO for, ESPECALLY when my son's old ass Trans Am beats it!

Was actually thinking of that today. But don't you think that GM should deliver what they promise?

I hear ya.. And GM needs to step up to the plate on this one.. It really looks bad for the company if they do not get close to advertised speeds on the L99.
