Let's not chase after the people that are speeding, lets pull the guy over with no front plate.

I had the bracket mounted, but had "CAMARO SS" lettered on the vanity plate.

If you are going to run with no front plate in a state that requires you to have it, make sure you keep your original plate in the glove box, and hope the cop won't ticket you.
The point of risking a ticket is because you don't want to drill into your facia. If you already have the bracket what's the point? Does the "vanity" camaro ss plate really look good enough to risk a ticket for? So good you just gotta have it, huh?

This.

There have been multiple reasons given over the years:

1)The ability for a camera to ID the car, which could be solved by having the cameras face the other way

2)An additional reflective surface on the front of the vehicle for "safety", as if headlights weren't enough

3)The ability for police to ID oncoming traffic, but it's kinda hard to pick out a plate number going by at 2x or greater the speed you are

http://www.springfieldnewssun.com/ne...licen-1/nMrth/

There are some "good" excuses in this article to keep front plates.

Have to laugh at the bus driver comment, wouldn't it be easier to get the back plate as they're driving away from you?

In all reality, it's just lawmakers/enforcers refusing to admit they're wrong, even if they weren't the ones to make the decision.

They can't do that by the way. You must give consent to a police officer if he asks to search your vehicle. A traffic stop is not probable cause. If they do not ask that is illegal searchand seizure. If they do ask it's b/c they need your consent.

You can refuse the police permission to conduct a search. Remember this - the only reason the police officer wants to perform a search is for evidence of criminal activity, and the fact that he is asking reflects an expectation that he will find some. You are entitled to say "No." If the police officer has the legal authority to perform the search, he will do so whether or not you agree. However, if he does not have the legal authority to perform a search, your consent gives him that authority.

During an investigative stop, or a traffic stop, a police officer may ask if he can search you or your car. However, if you give the police officer permission, he can perform the search even if he otherwise had no legal authority to do so. Some people don't know, or forget, that they have an "open" bottle of liquor in the car - a bottle with the seal broken, whether or not the cap is off. Sometimes, people have knives or other weapons which can be classified as illegal "concealed weapons." Sometimes, people forget that they have contraband in their cars, such as illegal drugs, or find to their chagrin that their teenaged child dropped a marijuana cigarette in the car. Unless you are the only person with access to the interior of your car, you may be in for a surprise if you grant permission for a search.

If police ask to search your vehicle you have the right to refuse. If they continue this request you have the right to ask, am I being detained or am I free to go? Unless they have just cause to detain you, (Terry stop), they can not delay and can not search your car. Important to remember not to be an ass during this process. You don't want a cop to be a dick to you, don't be a dick to him or her. Do not resist, do not complain.

I just don't get the resistance to putting it on.
Think of a front license plate on a Camaro as the same as a pimple in the middle of her forehead.

There was no way I was going to drill into my front bumper! I got the hide-a-plate bracket and love it. I fold down and hide my plate during any car shows, the only way to go!

Yep exactly right, I had to have it because it gave the car a completely different look.

The cop was obviously bored, no action going on today (and probably a mustang guy), so he goes for me.

Whoever said that the reason for the front plate was traffic cams, you're probably right. However what it comes down to is money. It is just another way for the city to rack up a couple extra bucks.

I have the jac a fab license bracket on my trunk. I will push my luck running without the front tag. I was pulled over several times for speeding and window tint but not yet on no front tag. Hope they will just leave us alone!

Show n' Go license plate, they have one that has a button and one that you have to get out and move, I would get the button one. If you get pulled over you can just say, check again, Lol, they would be so confused.

Typically you won't get pulled over for those type of issues (ie: front plate, seat belt, tint, etc.), but get pulled over for speeding or other traffic incident, and watch the tickets pile up.

I don't get what the big deal about putting the front plate on. You can't see it while your driving the car can you?

If you live in a state that requires it just put it on. By leaving it off, all you are doing is giving the cops a legitimate reason to pull you over, write you a ticket and cause your insurance rates to go up. Trust me, they are already eye-balling our cars because they look fast. I can't tell you how many times I've had local LEO follow me for a couple miles to see if they can catch me breaking a traffic law. Same deal when I had my GTO.

Why give them a reason to pull you over?
