I paid less than $40k for a new C6 coupe last summer. It had some options on it. Anyhow, that was before GM announced they were to build a Camaro. Otherwise, I would have just ordered a Camaro. I am trading the Vette this year as I want the back seats for kids. It didn't depreciate too much in one year (less than most vehicles I have had)... but then again, it was almost $10k of sticker when I bought it. It was a pretty good price for a new Vette. I will be getting some money back (thousands) & I won't have to pay any tax on the Camaro trade, etc...

If you get the Vette, make sure you grow ample chest hair, and have several gold chains dangling from you neck. Oh yeah, don't forget Neil Diamond in the CD

Vette 1, Camaro 2

Vette is more powerful...so if power is what you want...no comparison. I have both, I recommend both.

Personally, I would get the Camaro now if you can get it before winter. You can always pick up a used Vette.

I have a Vette, A new Camaro SS2, and a '95 Viper. I just can't get enough.

If you get the camaro be sure to grow out your mullet, buy lots of wife beaters, forget brushing your teeth, be sure to park it next to all the other cars sitting in your front yard, don't forget the fuzzy dice and your employ pass to the local carnival.

Sorry had to do it. I had a camaro 2ss rs ordered. I'm about to test drive a 08 vette now though.

I think guys that own Z06's for the most part recognize its one of the best performing cars on earth for its price are more serious than the vert guys who bought just to look good

After being on a biz trip for a week in San Diego and renting a Hertz ZHZ convertible - will never badmouth a C6 again. Full horsepower..... Very much unlike the Hertz Shelby. The dual mode exhaust is sublime. Velocity Yellow...that is the color Rally Yellow on the Camaro should have been.....there is nothing quite like it. In short I'd buy one of these from Hertz if I could find one not ridden hard and put away wet as there are only 500 of the badged for Hertz. Way too much fun, should almost be illegal to have that much car available for rent

If you think the camaro is better than the vette, go drive the vette. The only downside to the vette is the 2 seats. I've drive a c6 and I had ordered a 2ss that I cancelled after driving one. The new camaro is a beautiful car, but IMO lacks the performance and comfort of the vette. For 34,000 the camaro is a deal, but if you plan on loading it down and push the 40,000 price tag, the vette is the way to go.

One thing I will say is I took a look at what all the ZHZ Hertz convertible I rented had on it and priced it out just the way it sits

It had

Magnetic ride control
power top
dual mode exhaust
automatic tap shift
spoiler
Velocity Yellow
Chrome rims

In all, pretty decked out, and just about the way I'd order one if I was in the market. On Chevy website this baby tips the scale at 65k. Now I don't know what kind of massive discounting they would give to move such a vehicle, but thats still a lot of dosh (even a coupe version would be about 58k in this form). In my opinion a standard C6 is not twice the vehicle of a 2SS. New for new, I just don't see it. There is always the anecdote the Vette will hold its value better. Well in less than a year or 2 this 65k 'vette is going to be worth 40, at least a 40% drop in value. I don't see a 2 year old 2SS being worth 20k any time soon

Now the Z06 is twice the car that a 2SS is for sure. If you can find one 2 years old that has not been driven like a rental in the mid 40 area, I'd snap it up like a turtle vs a Camaro

Dude, I bought a 1 yr Coupe, Z51, 6SPD, HUD, NPP exhaust, 3LT interior, 2,000 miles on the clock for 39k.

Even the 1LT (45k) is more comfy than the 2SS/2LT. It's true. The interior is less plastic, more roomy, and better equipped.

You can get an 09 right now for about 8k under.
