Cars I've seen with oiled up MAFs tend to run on the rich side and kills performance... clean the MAF and the problem goes away... plugs may be a little bit fouled but that's usually about it...

but yes, the pcm should throw a code and drop to SD mode, but if it doesnt completely foul the MAF sensors up to the point of them not working (and thus, not throwing a code), then it can still cause a/f problems. which if not taken care of promptly can mess up the 02 sensor readings which further add to the problem. and sometimes the MAF sensors are burned to the point where a simple cleaning wont suffice, a full replacement is required.

can someone please get a dyno with the stock filter vs the drop in K&N filter? because every where iv looked, it just says that it allows for better air flow and preformance...no numbers to back it up. thanks

Think mainly he is talking about no gains with a simple drop in K&N... and then he did a DIY intake for $50 vs $400 for an actual K&N intake... so kind of to different subjects...

Tried installing this for my 2012 RS Camaro this morning, seems like the filter doesn't fit the size exactly. or maybe I'm placing the filter in the wrong way?
Anyone can give me some incite? |
