But according to here: http://www.pontiac.com/solstice/inde...yle=&year=2008 (And click "Features & Specs") The Turbo 2.0L ECOTEC is actually rated at a higher EPA estimate than the 2.4L ECOTEC. 2.4L: -auto (19/24) -stick (19/25) 2.0L: -auto (19/26) -stick (19/28) |

I think that if it ended up in a Zeta, two things would happen: A. It would only be for regions where there is a stiff tax based on engine displacement (China & Europe). B. It would be tuned for less power and better mileage. |

I think the role changes. In the Cobalt, HHR and Kappa twins it is the faster optional engine. If used in a Zeta it would probably be a or near base engine targeted at those more interested in economy than power. A V8 or turbo 6 would presumably also be offered.

Next thing you know in a few years we will be discussing a 1 cylinder camaro in the works and then a few years later a total hybrid camaro. This is a good sign with the 4cyl if it keeps Camaro alive, however I guess this means they might end up getting rid of the 6 cylinder in a few years and keep the 8.. I would hope they would never get rid of the 8 cylinder as that would make every single person on this forum extremely upset and I doubt GM wants to lose this crowd by lowering their high performance model to a 6 cyl only as Nissan has, no matter how fast the engine is..

Does Gm have a CVT? I was just thinking that the turbo 4 with a CVT might just give the Camaro both great acceleration and great fuel economy.

I don't think a CVT that can handle 3600-4000 pounds exists yet.

The Nissan Murano has a CVT with the 3.5 V6 and it weighs 4030 lbs. according to KBB. In a recent auto mag comparison, the Murano was both the fastest and most fuel efficient in the group. A CVT would theoretically be the best transmission for a turbo motor, it keeps the motor on full boost while accelerating. If you could add 3 or 4 mpg to the turbo 4's already good fuel economy, it would help offset the V8.

A CVT is a Continuously Variable Transmission. Instead of having gears, it smoothly adjusts the gear ratio.
