Well to be fair you neither need to go those speeds and people don't buy the V6 for performance unless they are going FI then it makes sense. I'm sure the V6 Mustang is fairly zippy

The prime reason for not getting a Mustang... Is because you're asking Camaro lovers which you should buy. I'm sure you're getting the answers you were expecting, by asking here.

Try asking on one of the Mustang forums about buying a Camaro, and you'll just get similar but opposite answers.
You'll find some on the Mustang forums (or Challenger forums) who agree that Camaros are cool, too.
Many more will think you're just trolling, but it could make for a few pages of comical reading...

Just finished reading the previous day's feedback. Thanks, its all definitely interesting.

Don't really have an update at this time, been working on my last school project this weekend so couldn't test drive any cars. I'm also a bit starry eyed at all the money I'd save if I didn't have to make car payments.

However, relevant story: I'm driving home tonight and was drifting hard to the right. Pull over, obviously a flat.

I jack the car up and remove the flat tire, and realize I'm 2 inches too low yet for the spare. Continue to jack it higher and the jack blows through the rocker panel. It was rusted to shit. The car didn't fall, but I immediately put the flat underneath the frame incase of further damage and the car did fall.

Luckily I had a second jack in my trunk and just lifted the control arm the remaining 2 inches to get the spare on (the first jack was still supporting the car I just couldn't lift it any further).

I drove away, peering out of my heavily cracked windshield, thinking I should have just left the POS on the side of the road. Its definitely time for a new car.

Bottom line is that both cars are great cars. If you can save a ton of money and get a premium model, its a no brainer. You can probably take some of the money you saved and get some stripes and stuff put on.

Do what you know is right. Your talking about another year's worth of payments if you get camaro without incentives.

If I were you, i'd get the mustang, even tho i love camaro too, i love american muscle more.

72 months is wayyy too long. Anyone paying more than 5 years for a new car probably shouldnt be buying it.

We americans have to be smarter with our money. I remember when I was a kid you couldnt get a 6 year car loan. 5 was the max. Now they have 8 and 9 year loans and we wonder why people default and banks get into trouble.

Buy something you can afford to pay off in 4 or 5 years while the car is still worth something. Thats my rule.

Go with whichever car you like the most. Test drive them both and decide.

A quick backstory: I am graduating from University this December as an engineer, and I have a job lined up starting Jan 3. It's time to replace the 98 Ford Escort coupe. I've had my eyes set on a Camaro LS or if I feel I can manage, an LT RS.

However, Ford has some really great incentives this month. Mustang V6 Premium Coupe with $3500 cash rebate, $1000 Costco rebate, and $500 off for Cash for clunker's equivalent.

And thats the premium Mustang V6. The end price is around $26.5K CAD after taxes, where right now I'm looking at about $30K CAD for a base model (LS) Camaro after taxes. That's with the steelies (hate), no fog lights, and limited MP3 connectivity. I love the Camaro LS but I really wouldn't be satisfied with the steelies. I can't justify driving off the lot not 100% satisfied with my new car.

I haven't test driven the Mustang yet, but I feel if I do, I'll be so excited about it and it'll be really hard to justify coming back to the Camaro.

And that 3.7L Mustang is quite impressive, it (apparently) handles really well and you can't really argue with the 0-60 of 5.1 sec and the 1/4 mile in 13.7 sec. Those numbers are superior to the Camaro's.

Alright, bring on the bias. Help me out, I'm a Camaro owner and love em to death, but the price difference is a whole vehicle class difference right now.
I felt the same sickness come over me. It was January 2013 and I needed a new car. Or a different one anyway. Although people say they found SS 1 LE's for 29,000, I didn't see one even close to that price. So I got a 2010 GT500 for the same price I would have picked up a 2013 SS 1LE. Drive both cars. You can't make a complete decision by reading forums, looking at 0-60 times, etc. Get in each one, drive it, see which you like better then see what you can get it for. Chevy used to make a MUCH better V6 than Ford, but I'm not so sure that is the case now. You shouldn't make a $24,000 decision by what you read on the internet. 5 years ago I would have said no contest get the Chevy. I'm not so sure now. It seems Ford has finally made a good V6. I had Camaros in the 1990's, and they were great. But I can look at myself in the mirror knowing I have a Ford in the garage. Unlike a lot of Shelbys, it is my daily driver. 4,000 miles on it in January. 23,000 on it now. I don't regret it for a second.
