Some guys really convince themselves that they would rather have a V6 than a V8, and I can never take that statement seriously as a Camaro owner.

OK, serious question.
What are your thoughts on vendors that do not have a brick and mortar shop or a shop car? T.

The drag strip is like sniffing glue, it's cheap, it's a decent buzz, it doesn't last long and they are all the same. Road racing is like China White Heroin, the buzz is stronger, the high lasts for hours, it's extremely addictive and they are all different. |

One of the guys at the station today is giving me a rash of chit because I'm trying to get my hands on a set of CTS-V brakes. He starts asking what's wrong with the ones on my car. I just looked at him and said if you don't get it now you never will. Half the reason to get one of these cars is to make it better, faster, cleaner and yours. He drives an old Explorer Sport BTW...

It is a big help to have an actual shop and car though. Makes it easier to help your customers that have questions since you can actually go look at the car and figure out the problem. But not many shops are going to be able to have a car for every part they sell either.

Why are you trying to get the CTS-V pots? You do realize that you can make the stock ones perform just as well or better than them right? Here is your roadmap: Racing Brake rebuild kit with Stainless Steel Pistons. Titanium Backing Plate. Cobalt Friction XR-1 Pads (For the track ONLY) Stainless Steel lines Dot 4 fluid Slotted Rotors (Quality ones like DBA or Racing Brake) This is what I run on the track and I do JUST FINE. The numbers do not lie. Besides, once you go CTS-V the rotors and pads, which are consumable items, are much more expensive to replace. Just sayin..... ![]() T.

I would rather support a place that actually does installs and has at least one, even a personal, car so I knew they knew what they were talking about. For example: Jordan and Co. @ JDP Motorsports Matt @ FSP Rob @ Wretched Motorsports Bruce and Co. @ Raymonds Performance Nineball @ Deviate Motoring Justice Pete @ Pedders THE LETHAL BOYS (They are just Bad@ss) These are all folks I have either bought from or talked to for advice on technical questions and would recommend in a HEARTBEAT. I know I have forgotten quite a few but you get the idea. $hit, if I listed them all I would be here ALL night. They all have Brick and Mortar shops and have walked the walk in some form or fashion so I trust them enough to buy from them or take their advice. Plus their prices are usually equally competitive if you give them a call and let them know you saw it somewhere else cheaper. There are other vendors on this board that spew advice that have no shop, no car and I do not think know how to turn a wrench. Sure, customer service is great and the prices are cheap but why should we support them over someone who has a building, lighting, heat and employees to pay for? Thus keeping this great country, and economy, rolling right along? (Ok, that last part was kinda cheesy but....\Because America!) T.

See, I have been watching that thread too but you notice how there has been NO mention of PRICE!!!! And again you get locked into proprietary rotors and pads. Again I see big $$$$$ on consumable items.
I am not saying I am not drooling over them but I am leary. Especially with minimum layout I have really great brakes. Hell, my DBA 4000 slotted rotors have lasted, street and track, since last spring. Granted I garage her for 4-6 months during the winter but still. Of course I do not see the high heat you guys do in SoCal. But I hear it is a dry heat. (I have been to Ft. Irwin in the Desert and it sucked, and do not get me started on LA)T.

http://www.racingbrake.com/Brake-Kit...2-p/2138-k.htm Price has been out for a little while man. They just got done with Blake's calipers just in time for last weekends road course....the first set made for our cars...they looked awesome and performed great. Blake said they were like the throttle lol took a little getting use to but worked awesome and the control was unreal. No you don't get locked into rotors or pads. They are all based off the stock rotor size and the pads are a general size that other vendors make. Use standard FMSI brake pads : A very common P/N (D1149) is used with these calipers.
