You're going to need a real good tune with that and it will pull like a freight train up top with that 13* overlap it has so for your application it should be ideal but I'm just learning about cam events so I'll let the real experts take a stab at it.

I'm not Doug but....
I went with the TSP 2" headers. At this point I just wasn't going to spring for the 2" ARH's. If I get close to a # at the strip and think it will make a difference I will swap. But the money difference now buys a Circle D triple disk.... Got a 3" off road pipe. Bought the LG high flow cats that had 100 miles on them for $100. Going to weld them in. And mating it up to the SW Retro Chambered.

There are better cams, Ls3/L99's flow very well on the intake side and you should compliment the exhaust accordingly. Just my .2

I am getting a dyno tune done in a month, I will have the AFM turned off obviously. Now I have found threads on here and google search about L99 to LS3 conversions, specifically because the lifters tend to fail on the L99?
I guess I am asking is if it's necessary for me to make such changes if I am only having the AFM turned off?

Here's my parts pile so far. Waiting on cam parts and a few small items; then wheels/tires.

I am sure. But like we've talked about.
I'm going with a proven setup and adding heads, a FAST, and a NW 102.

Cam break in question. Like TBone I too am considering a custom grind cam for road course use! My plan if it all works out is to have Lethal do the work after the Camaro Fest next May. Thing is that I will be driving it home to Buffalo which is a 19 hour drive. Does the cam need a break in period and would a long drive at 75 mph going to be ok?

If its been tuned you're fine. Go through a couple of heat cycles before making the trip.
