Pay attention:

We discovered a problem less than a week ago.

We are working around the clock with the supplier to determine which units are involved.

We ARE NOT DOING burnouts to 'test' them.

Please - calm down. I understand your concern -- and if we'd discovered this two months ago and you had no info, I could understand your constant concern-- BUT -- we learned of it this week - WHAT IS IT that you want me to do? I can't tell you if we have NOT FINISHED WITH all of the investigation and have all of the answers, now can I????

I love ya dearly -- but please -- calm down!
***Takes a deep breath*** All calm now.. I'll be picking up the car on Saturday in Tampa and driving it back to Miami.. I'll take lots of pictures and have fun with my family and friends. My user-name is registered with the correct VIN on the spasticsquirrel area which is what I was using to figure mine was close to the others affected. However I will trust what you say and I will be babying it on the trip anyways for break-in. I'm excited as its been a very long wait and battle to get this car. First dealer lied for six months about accepting supplier discount however CamaroScotty not being able to place another order introduced me to Eric Hall from Classic Chevrolet who has been nothing but the best. He has restored my faith that great and honest car salesman still exist in this world. I appreciate you responding to my concerns and again am glad you are on this site to help all of us as best you can. Hopefully one day I'll get to meet you at a Camaro event somewhere God Bless..

Ok, so if there's anyone left who's upset that the cars are being held up instead of shipped, here's what would happen if they just shipped them instead:
http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=4465016
http://forums.vwvortex.com/zeroforum?id=988
Those transmissions are in VWs priced similar to the Camaro and Audis priced higher. They're failing not under abuse, but while just driving along.

Unlike GM, VW isn't communicating much about it. Unlike GM, VW didn't discover the defect when only a few had been delivered and doesn't seem to hold up delivery to check new ones.

So, be thankful that GM caught Tremec's error and protected you from it!

Unless you're doing a lot of burnouts, you should not have anything to worry about --

Has a vin range been narrowed down yet?

This is just a problem with the SS tranny and not the V6? I think someone said yes, but I just want to be sure.

Thanks

Yes. The SS transmission is from Tremec, and V6 transmission is from Aisin. Tremec is the one with the problem.

You and I are in the EXACT same boat

I've got to say thanks as well to CamaroScotty for hooking me up with Eric Hall from Classic in TX who put me in touch with Joe Machacek at Classic, and I will also be picking up my car in Tampa & driving it across state to it's new home in Ft Lauderdale! A big thank you very much to all of you for making it happen for me!

What is it about ALL the dealers in S FL being so shady?!? 1/2 of them are walking around with $$ in their eyes, the other 1/2 couldn't tell you the truth to save their life!

so if it does break GM will give me a loaner car for free until its fixed?

if that's the case then I feel better that I will not have to rent a car and pay for it myself.

The Onstar discussions have been moved to: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33083

Trying to keep this thread on-topic so that members can check and refer to it for developments/info on the SS hold / transmission topic.

I'm curious... does this mean you were searching for an issue from the late June build cars, and discovered it within the last week?

Thats quite an undertaking considering the amount of cars moving down the line now.

fbodfather: I've noticed that you are watching this thread closely. Excuse me for moving slightly off topic, but there are a few things that I would like to say.

Thank you! Thank you for your passion! Thank you for your dedication! Thank you for all the sleepless nights! Thank you for your 'blood, sweat and tears'! Thank you for going 'above and beyond'! Thank you for buliding me a car, that in it's first 1400 miles, has by far exceeded my expectations in every way (and my expectations were very high)!

I, for one, know that the sky is not falling. I rest assured that if there is an issue with my car it will be taken care of by the good folks at GM. I truly believe that you personally care that everyone here has the best Camaro experience possible. I appreciate the efforts of you and your team. THANK YOU!

ok so this means I can still go into a dealer this week coming up and if they have allocation for it place my order for SS manual? OR is there a constraint? (Sorry i'm getting confused...)

We will find out Thursday if the constraint is lifted or not. That's when constraints and allocations are updated. From what I understand.
