Holdback is additional money from the manufacturer that is sent back to the dealer once the car is sold to a customer. For GM and most domestic auto makers it is equal to 3% of the MSRP. Here is how it breaks down using 2014 pricing info on a 2SS Coupe and no options just to keep it simple. (notice I will not add destination fee to this example it is a fixed cost back to Chevrolet and can not be discounted that should be added back after you calculate the hold back)

MSRP = $36,755

Invoice = $35,284

Holdback: $36,755 x .03 = 1103

Now subtract the holdback from the invoice price

$35,264 – 1103 = $34,161

This is as close as we can come to seeing the actual price the dealer pays for the vehicle. Remember there are tons of other incentives that the dealer may qualify for from GM because of the number of cars they sell or other promotions that could drastically lower the real price the dealer pays. With out access to this information we can’t really know what their actual costs are so keep that in mind when negotiating

Membership.

Also i believe u need some type of ins... if u are a member call them and ask for an authrozation number... they can fax it to your dealership or too you..

Yourself or a parental relative (parents/grandparents) needs to have served in the military. You then are eligible for membership. They have a ton of discounts and services, one of which is a car buying service. Currently gm is offering a flat $750 rebate.

They do. A lot of dealers will give the $750 and not deal with the paperwork. Normally I look up the USAA price, then go in, negotiate down, and then drop the USAA membership. But if you didn't feel like negotiating, the USAA price for a 2014 2SS/RS/NPP will come in $100 above invoice. Some dealer's will go a little below it, others a little above.

The additional graph is based of 52 sales according to TrueCar.

I can build one for you if you want to see what it'd be.
