You can't be. Haven't you seen the news lately? There is no middle class left anymore. Just the top 5% (who collectively own 95% of the wealth) and the rest of us, who on average have negative equity (owe more on our houses and cars and credit cards than we have in savings).

I don't get much of that. I always get, "Your v8 creates a huge carbon foot print." My reply is normally, "I sleep just fine at night knowing people like you make up for my obvious lack of caring by driving a Prius."

By crashing into another Prius, two birds, one stone.

I've been told by a family member and my neighbor that I need to get a wife and kids.

A new Camaro costs less than most SUVs I've looked at. They aren't terribly priced.

have heard similar from people that make more than I do and can't believe I can afford one. most people assume it is expensive and while it isn't cheep it is most certainly attainable. I work in banking but probably make about a third less than what most people think. some people burn money on stupid crap, and I don't. there fore I allow myself the pleasure of owning a camaro. and I wouldn't have it any other way!

But to answer the question more accurately I usually tell them that they can afford one and encourage them to buy one, if I can afford it you can afford it, you only live once!!

Same stuff, I will get the "must be nice" from some of the cadets when I pull up for training- I have been in the military for 10 years, 3 deployments, And I drive a 40k car that I paid 32k for (granted , it was a steal with only 1800 miles but I digress). No one said anything about "it must be nice" when I was leaving my wife and son multiple times for years at a time. being a crybaby now just heard it a few times this weekend at my wfies family re union and it was a tad frustrating.

Like others have said though, it shows the mark of quality in the car that people think it cost so much more then it does (that, and the gouging that was going on at dealers the first year they came out gives the illusion of high prices). Funny in my 5.0 which cost about the same I never heard any of those comments /stirspot

I either say "20 years in the same job = enough stability to buy what I want" or "I only work half days, either the first 12 hours, or the 2nd 12 hours. Doesn't matter!".
