Pacific Raceway vs Ridge Motorsports

I was talking with a buddy of mine that races motorcycles and cars and he said that I should forget about taking my car to Pacific Raceway, based on the condition of the track. He said his motorcycle racing club no longer races at Pacific due to poor track conditions and safety.

The Ridge is 90 minutes away vs Pacific Raceway @ 45 minutes, so would prefer the closer track for regular track time.

Anyone have any experience with either or both of these tracks?

until ridge gets their drag strip done they can not get the big guys over there (the NHRA) & Pacific is upgrading the track they just have to do it during the winter time because if they close down the track during the season they would lose the track.

I have only driven around Pacific on a golf cart, but I have run the Ridge in my Camaro and it's awsome. Run the Ridge!

Assuming we're talking about the road course, I have ran them both a lot and both are great. The Ridge is a world class venue and the best track you will drive on unless you get down to California or further out. Connect with Proformance as they run both. You won't be sorry. I can get you a discount with them if you are interested.

I have ran both of them and the ridge is a better track, it is new. Pacific is a older track and needs upgrades but still a good track for cars.

Yeah, run them both and come run Spokane too. The wmrra guys like the Ridge better, but I haven't heard they are quiting Pacific. They are still racing bikes there this year. They did quit Spokane due to car guys taking over and not keeping it safe for bikes.

Appreciate the responses. I did not realize Performance offered their courses at both tracks. Good to know the Ridge is worth the longer drive.

I will likely do the certification course and cut my proverbial teeth at Pacific (closer) and then try both tracks and go from there...

The Ridge is well worth the drive to keep it simple.

Nothing wrong with Pacific, but when built it was built as a multi use track and it shows. The Ridge from its inception was designed as a road course by a road racer with a drag strip to come later and completely separate from the road course. I have been on the course as a passenger in a very fast racecar and I have an open invite, but time or lack of it has kept me from going.

Both fun tracks. The Ridge is new and the surface shows it. Pacific Raceways is an older track, but it will give the driver the experience of driving on a not-so-new surface.

Both very good tracks, and each have their own personality.

I am still awaiting the return of my addiction from my engine builder - adding new cam+springs, AGP TT Kit - should be this week, then I will be scheduling ASAP, weather and schedule permitting.

Thanks for the discount reference! Will definitely use it.
