Does anybody else suffer from this?
Well as the title says, does anybody else suffer from this??
PLEASE !!!![]() I have a set of 20" TSW Nurburgring installed on my car for about 6 months now and the above is the 3rd fender liner I have been through. My front wheels are 20" X 9" with an offset of +20 and I have them wrapped in 275/40R20 Nitto INVOs, something that is not new to any of us I am sure!! If it helps, my car has also been lowered by 1" using BMR lowering springs. What also gets to me is that it is always the driver's side fender liner. NEVER the passenger's side!! The passenger side seems fine. Is anybody else facing this issue or has faced it before? ANY SOLUTIONS?? |

I don't know all the tech stuff, but I've been thinking about putting a 9" wheel up front, no lowering. What does a +20 offset mean? Sorry, I know your looking for answers and I've asked a question.

@ MYDLIFECRISIS:
Since I am a layman, I shall explain it to you in layman's terms. Offset determines how far out or how deep in your wheels would sit with respect to the fender. Actually, its a lot more technical and the actual "with respect" is to the center of the wheel, but for ease of understanding and for visual reference, we will go with "with respect to the fender". It's odd but the higher the number, the deeper inside the fender goes the wheel and the smaller that figure, the further the wheel will move outwards. My rim being 9" and of +20 offset, they tend to align just right with the fender. I don't get any rubbing issues with my fender, however I'm not sure if I can say the same for my fender liner. For a far more in-depth explanation, click on the link below: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=111604 Hope the above information is sufficient enough. |

It has to be a combination of your tire size and the fact your car is lowered. I am running the 9 Inch Nurburgrings also; however, I have the +35 offset. My car is not lowered and there is no chance of my tire ever rubbing. The fact that I have a +35 means that my wheel is closer to liner than yours. So I definitely say it's the tire size with the other factors you have mentioned.

I forgot to mention that I am running a 245 up front on the 9 inch wheel.

Nope no issues here at all. 20x9 with 275 Invo's up front lower 1.25" with no rubbing issues at all. Something is off.
What are your offsets? |

I am running 19x10 up front with no rubbing issues. Did you get a new alignment after lowering? That is the only thing I can think of.

Could the fender liner be flexing at speed and hitting the tire? I'm lowered 1.25 and running a 9.5 with 275/40 on the front and no issues.

I recently got my alignment done, but what does that have to do with rubbing issues?
I could go with the fender liner flexing theory but 3 liners doing the same? |

When you lowered the car, it changed the geometry of the suspension. If it changed the toe in on the front (unlikely to be a lot, but it is the only thing I could think of as your tire and wheel sizes seem OK) that could cause rubbing at full lock in the turn.

That would be my guess.
There should be 3 screws on the front along the edge where it meets the front fascia and 2 screws on the back where it meets the rocker panel. There are also push pins to help hold the liner in place. I think there are 5 of them. I'd check the front mounting screws as there the most likely culprit. There should be no open holes in the liner when it's properly mounted.
