Rhino, about how deep into the LS3 pistons would you expect to have to cut to clear the SS4? I'm getting close to this step.

That is a good question hemp. Intake side will need .035" or so out, exhaust side, I don't know, I haven't measured it on a flat top to see. Its going to need a lot because as the cam retards it will tighten up on the exhaust ptv. The factory piston has a large relief and Im worried cutting that much on the ls3 would make it too weak on the exhaust relief. I don't know the piston head thickness.

I can't find much on LS3 piston thickness. I found this quote from SpinMonster over on the corvette forums.

"The surface of the stock hypereutectic piston is at its thinnest section 220 thousandths. In most places its over .330” and some its .4”."

He seems to be the goto guy for fly cutting info/tools. So that's .220" near the ring lands, and a little more everywhere else. Are you thinking "a lot" as in... .080" or "a lot" as in .120"? I have seen that it is not recommended to cut any deeper than .1".

Congrats on the new times. That's getting to be pretty damn fast.

Can you update the modifications to your car or is the cam the only change? Those are fantastic numbers.

On the motor the cam is the only difference. Except I'm running colder plus for the spray. In negative da I think it will run a low 60 or high 10.50 with the posi right.
