SO for the past few days i have been on vacation and my grilfriends dad has been complain about how his fuel pump is bad in his truck so while i was up there i would smell fuel every once in awhile thinking it was his truck i didnt think anything. Well i got home last night and smelled it again when i got to work. Didnt think anything as there are a bunch of junk cars there. Well today after diner i smell it and im now know it has to be me. I back out of the parking spot and a puddle is under the car. It was gas
I put the car and my dads ramps and it is leaking from what looks like a small bump coming outward on the tank. No marks of hitting anything on the tank or the bottom of the car. Has anyone had this issue?? Im going to call my dealer in the morning to get the car taking in to see what happened. Was just asking to see if it may be a bad tank and if anyone else my have had the same problem.

I had a poorly installed clamp on the fill pipe on the tank that was leaking. I repositioned and secured the clamp. Maybe your problem is simple like mine was.

its coming from a hole from what i can tell on the bottom so i dont think it will be a easy fix unless they patch it or something.

Well the car should be going in today. I hope its a lose hose or something but i have a bad feeling its the hole where the tank was molded. Hope it doesnt take to much to get it in and out would hate to see her taking all apart.
Turns out they were to busy to take the car today so i have to bring it in tomorrow morning and have them look at it.

That's too bad...since the rear suspension has to come off for tank removal from what I've heard. Good luck.

Thats what im doing tonight. I told them its seems like a weak point in the tank and the pressure popped it outward. The guy there was like no it is most likely a hose on top or u ran something over and cracked the tank. If hitting a stick cracks these tanks i would hate to see a car crash then. So ill lift the car again tonight and take pics and ill even post them to show in case someone else has this happen.

The car just got dropped off. lets hope for the best.
Update: They called me down showed me what they thought was the leak i saw which was the trans fluid blow off tube. I showed them the outward hole and they are now going to put pressure in the tank and see what happens. Update 2:They cant get it to leak after i taped it for the last day but they are very worried as to why this tank leaked. So im picking it up and will drive it around and see if it leaks again after a few days. Ill post pics up tonight for the puddle and the tank.

Fuel tank leaks in my 2010 Camaro SS
@ Justincase. or anyone with prior knowledge of this issue
What has the final outcome of your fuel tank leak for your 2010 Camaro?? I just had my 2010 Camaro SS start leaking Fuel . I noticed it soon after I filled the tank. I noticed that the fuel tank under the drivers side was wet with fuel coming down from the side nearest the drivers door. I drove the vehicle to drop the fuel level. Now it still leaks a small amount only when I drive the car. When the car is sitting it will not leak even if I start the vehicle . Not sure on where it is coming from But It sounds like it may be from the filler clamp (i have seen i couple of others talking about this issue.) Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks |

Did you get a cel. I have one and my 2012 SS M6 is going to the dealer for some fix that requires taking off the rear suspension. I also saw a V6 getting this done as well. The issue is possibly something coming loose and creating a vacuum leak in the fuel system. I see no leaking fuel though.
