As for the install itself, honesty if you are not able to do it on your own you probably cannot change a tire. My point is it's simple and the chances of breaking something is extremely hard.

Hey, thanks for the insult. I've been driving for 23 years and have unfortunately had to change several tires in that time frame. I'm not a complete idiot. But before joining this site a year ago, I'd never even heard of a catch can, much less seen or installed one. And the last thread on it that I saw here, the guy had to get the car towed because of his accident with the installation. So excuse me if I'm a little apprehensive about installing it myself. I'm sure there are hundreds of guys on here that feel the exact same way about it.

It wasn't meant to be an insult, sorry if it sounded like that. My point was if you can change a tire you can install a catch can.

Every car can benefit from a catch can. It is more vital on DI engines, but it still gums up the intake track on the LS engines nonetheless. How much you catch depends on a few things but mainly driving habits. you will catch much more if you go WOT a lot.

Best regards,

think id rather do a induction service than add this, anytime you try to over engineer something there are unforeseen troubles that pop up. I am in no way saying it doesn't work im just saying the guys who engineered these cars do everything or don't do things for a reason. My two cents

It's not only just how much you catch quantity wise, but also the contaminates removed from the crankcase that the oil filter obviously does not capture. The attached picture shows crankcase oil (left spot)allowed to drip off the dipstick onto the paper towel. The spot on the right is oil dripped from the catch can. The crankcase oil is oil that has been run about 300 miles since oil change. The engine has about 34,000 miles on it.

You are correct my catch can works great but the breather oil cap caused a lot of problems with sticky valve ,so I removed it and was suspicious whether it caused my my oil cooler gasket to leak due to pressure build -up.

I guess it does collect for those non believers!

The reasons it is not included from the factory may have something to do with maintenance schedules, cost, marketing, environmental issues, hazardous waste disposal, etc. Are they legit reasons not to include it from the factory? yes. Reasons for an owner not to install one later? not really.

It DOES remove some nasty oil vapors/droplets and condenses them into liquid and traps them to avoid them getting into the intake of your engine. All the crud in the can is crud that never got burned in your engine. It never got to the back sides of the valves so it couldn't form any deposits on the valves or in the combustion chambers either. Proof is in the can.

I'd bet all companies have to to get emissions certified, engine performance/gummed up oil takes a 2nd seat to the EPA. There isn't a dedicated race car w/o one for a performance reason.
