I use mine 99% of the time. I find the few times I don't use it, it feels like the car is always in the wrong gear and constantly correct it using tapshift. I suppose it comes down to the way you drive.

This is what I have noticed as well. Very useful in autocross!

Just a matter of curiosity... but in my Challenger using the paddle shifters results in a noticeable 'clunk' between gears (that's not there when in full auto). I had paddle shifters in a Taurus and didn't see that, and also don't get it in a new Escape the couple times I've messed with it. I actually think the whole idea is kinda silly, especially when if you wanna shift you can buy the manual.

Seems like the Xbox version of shifting, you push a button and pretend you did something... If your car only has 2 peddles on the floor it IS an automatic. |

You act like we deny its an automatic or something, when in fact we enjoy the fact that it is. We also enjoy the fact that we can shift it ourselves too. And yes...it is shifting it ourselves....its just much easier to do than pushing in a pedal and moving a lever around. There are electronics and mechanics involved in both so don't act like using the tap shifter isn't shifting the car ourselves....its just much different than an actual manual car. I totally appreciate the art of good manual shifting, but again, don't belittle the tapshift just because you need some reason to defend your purchase choice. I don't use the tap shift daily, but when I want to use it I really enjoy it.

I use mine for fun and to make make a little bit more noise, but if I'm looking to race I leave it in S mode.
Anyone else get that "tug" feeling when slowing down for like say a light, and shifting down? I think its most noticeable when going from 2nd to 1st. |

I use it all the time..it shuts off the afm at highway speeds....I've been driving manuals off/on since I was 16....I feel cheating when I gear down coming up to the lights and I get that false rev of the engine....I can't complain because it's perfect every time. And my exhaust barks pretty good.

And the real beauty is, when you don't want to tap shift, you don't have to. |
