An x pipe and an H pipe both equalize pressure. What the main reason there's an advantage going with an x pipe is it also allows the exhaust two separate baths to travel.

I was in and out pretty quick, I had some errands to run so I got in some drive time. I could immediately tell that it dampened the sound a little, it also seems to be a little more smooth and refined. Of course I cant tell any gains from it, the exhaust also sounds a little different at take off, kinda has a little higher pitch through 1st and 2nd gear "dont know if I care for that", is it possible to lose a little power from the x pipe? Or does it just feel that way because its not as loud now? Seemed to be a little more peppier in sport mode, may just be me though

Not totally on topic, but I ordered the Jegs 2.5 X pipe to replace my L99 resonator. Hoping it gets here before next week so I can get it put on.

"An H-pipe or X-pipe is a must IMO, 3yrs we tested it on our free time on a dyno same day hours apart. This was on a 6.0L truck made 347rwhp 331rwtq with duals no cross over, 2hrs later with an H-pipe 351rwhp 337rwtq, 2hrs with an X-pipe made 354rwhp 340rwtq, 20min later 471rwhp 467rwhp with a lil nitrous lol.....
all runs done 2hrs apart on a 80* weather." Now that is an intersting test you don't see very often if at all. Thanks for posting what you found in your dyno testing. |

That is a nice piece. I have the summit racing version, wish I had known about the Jegs piece now that they have 100% free shipping on all their items.

After driving the car more this evening ive decided to go back to true duals, Im just really not happy with how the car sounds compared to how it did before. Im sure that I gained a couple of ponies from it but I cant feel it so im not gonna miss anything by reverting back to the way that I had it. I will be switching it back in the next couple of days

Actually Jegs' x pipe is cheaper than Summit's right now and both items have free shipping.

But to sum it up, the X pipe gives it a REALLY aggressive exhaust note during cruising, low, and high rpms. There really isn't a "Drone" in my opinion, because the X pipe gives it a more "hollow" sound. The only "Downside" is there is some raspyness, but It doesn't bother me at all, because I'd rather have that slight hint of rasp, than a loud obnoxious drone. |
