Locking a converter is a band aid for an inefficient converter. I promise you will be faster unlocked with the correct converter. How many all out race cars you see with a triple disc?

The one exception I can think of is if with a single disk your right at the top of a gear but with a triple disk it pulled RPM back down out of the power band before the traps. Otherwise it should MPH faster. Its a true 1.1 ratio with no converter slip and 100% efficiency just like a manual trans. I'm not saying it will help ET, I'm saying it will almost always trap higher and ALWAYS dyno higher.

Terry's converter has very little slip, therefore it is making good mph all the way down the track. Think of it like he's damn near locked in all 4 gears. Where as, I'm slipping in 2.5 gears and dead locked in 1.5 gears. |

And a little slip is good. Torque multiplication is what helps.

Single disc is going to be faster then multi-disc if neither locks up. Lot less rotating weight/supporting internals inside the TC.
