I think it helped the impact that she didn't hit me square on the rear end. It still felt pretty hard though. Just from looking under the car the frame didn't look severely bent anywhere, looks like the mount for the steel bumper got bent a bit though. We will find out, it is at the shop and should hopefully know a plan of attack in the next couple days.

Yeah I don't know what she was doing. She was an older lady upper 50's to early 60's. If I remember right she got in the new bus they brought and continued her route.

I figured it was the last thing she wanted to be doing too and she was decent about it so why bother making things difficult. It sucks that it happened I am just glad no one got hurt. Might get a couple new goodies out of the deal too

No airbags. The only thing I can think of is that I wasn't moving and she hit so far off to the corner.

Yep, he handled it very well.

Something very similar happened to me a few weeks ago.
I wasn't in the Camaro though, but did get rear ended in my pickup while stopped making a left turn.
My truck was totaled, but nobody got hurt.

His first reaction of making sure everyone on the bus was OK was the right thing to do.

Airbags won't deploy from an impact to the rear.
There are no airbag sensors in the rear of the car.

Airbags keep your head from moving forward into the steering wheel/dash/windshield.
An impact from the rear will push you back into the seat/headrest.

Terrible that this had to happen. Your reaction to the whole incident is laudable, as you did what was best for other's safety and best interest. Material items are replaceable, people are not! Glad you are safe, and hope your car is able to be repaired bad to normal! Keep us updated, OP!

Glad everything turned out well. But seriously... What are the chances?!? Black n yellow Camaro tagged by a black n yellow Chevy bus? If it wasn't so painful to look at it'd be pretty dang funny!

I feared the worst that it was full of kids, so I went back and luckily it was only the driver and one kid and they were both OK. She said she looked down for a second and looked up and it was too late. She swerved but still caught the right rear with the left front of the bus. Important thing is that all parties involved were OK. Just thankful there weren't more kids on that bus...

Photos for those brave enough to look. All in all I think it held up well. it even gave that bus a kick back. The deputy at the scene said she said she was doing 46 when she looked up & saw me. He estimated she was doing around 42 when she hit me. She didn't have time to lock up the brakes, she just swerved.

Those 19in rims look better than the other larger style rims.

Wow! Glad everyones ok! My mom got hit by a short bus... same make and model actually lol. We live on the pre school bus route, luckily no kids were on board, coming back from dropping the kids off, my niece included. The events leading to the wreck need to be looked into. Wouldn't want my kids in the hands of a negligent bus driver.
