I personally think carbon fiber is so played out. its almost looking like "RICE".
to get away with the corny look of carbon fiber, you gotta have a lot of horsepower.

'Rice' is thrown around too much. But if you think of the generic term 'Rice' and what it describes they cannot generally afford Carbon Fiber so there is that too

What's up with carbon fiber?

I like CF and think it looks good for most applications though it can be overdone. I have kept mine minimal and think it compliments the car well. And there's nothing better than bright sun hitting highly polished CF!

It's important to note the various kinds of CF and the different processes used to make it.

Dry carbon fiber is the lightest and most expensive
Wet carbon is more common and is typically done over fiberglass pieces for structure

Lots of great articles online about CF!

lightweight, functional, and strong....sounds like the opposite of rice to me.

Style is subjective, who cares?

A lot of people might not understand why somebody with a V6 Camaro would install Lambo doors. Just do what makes you happy.

Not so much for weight. It's more of a visual thing. Looks cool in most cases but a lot of people tend to over do it and go all out and get everything possible in carbon fiber..

if its tastefully done its beautiful, like the insert on zl1 hood, Splitters,BMW M3 Roof's and so on,but when the only piece of it on your car is the entire hood i think it looks tacky.

I can just open my door like normal. I don't have to paint my hood to keep from being judged lol. Like my OP states this wasn't to bash anyone I just wanted to know what the draw to this style is.

Some people dig the look. I like it personally, but wouldn't opt to put a bunch of CF all over my cars. As mentioned, when it's tastefully (IMO) done, then it looks bad ass. Take Denis' car. He's got the spoiler and front splitter. And Deke's got the spoiler to compliment the hood insert. Nice. But if it's just put all over the car, it can be a bit off-putting.

God love him, but an example is Overpar73's ZL1. It's his car, his money, thus his rules, and he's done a lot of neat things with the car, but I think went overboard with the whole CF thing, IMO. But that's what modding is all about. Pleasing your own tastes.
