The vast majority of the time, if you are going fast enough to get ticketed... you are going fast enough to be a safety hazard to yourself and others on the road. It's that simple. With this I agree. Driving (any car) requires respect, responsibility, and maturity. You can still have "a little fun"... you just have to be smart about it. And yes I have significantly exceeded the speed limit a number of times, but I was aware of my surroundings. I could see a VERY long way ahead and behind me. And the roads were dry and empty. I was also willing to risk getting a ticket (LEOs hide pretty well sometimes and I do not have a detector), and won't whine about it if I ever do get one.

Everyone speeds. Sometimes you're driving at a comfortable speed and don't realize you're speeding in these cars. I bought the Escort 9500ci and it has saved me more than once. I can't imaging buying a car like these and not punching the throttle now and then.

I bought the car to play, just like every car hat proceeded it. I am aware of my surroundings when I am playing. When not playing, I set cruise control when I can to avoid accidentally going fast. Almost every ticket I have came when I was not trying to go fast (not playing), just not paying attention. When I do get caught (once every couple years or so) I just consider it my high-speed road tax and go along with my day. Not mean the officer, they think they are doing the right thing. OP, pay more attention, and don;t worry about things.
PS: I thought that the benefit of the radar and laser detectors was to notify you that radar was in use in your area. I thought it detected the use of it on other cars in your area. Is that no longer the case? I have not had a radar detector in years. |

Yeah, where I live most cars speed. You are actually more of a hazard here if you go the speed limit (on the freeway, anyway).

If you bought a Camaro? ANY 5th gen Camaro? And never tested what it can do or is capable of doing? You're sadly missing out. I have a hard time believing that anyone who's installed mods on their vehicle to increase its performance (HP) and says they have not sped, tested what its capable of doing on a highway or interstate is full of shit. Whats the point of installing 450+RWH if youre not even thinking of using it? If its parked? No one gives a shit if it'sd got 450, 500, or 600+HP and its just sitting there because you cant actually SEE HP. I know some go to the track. Great, just dont say you never tested it on the street.
I've only gotten 1 ticket in my Camaro. Of course I rarely see it these days with work but when I do drive it, I test it. Not with ignorance but for fun. Sayin that, I've gotten over 10 speeding tickets in the last 4 yrs. Thanksfully, I've learned to slow it down on the interstate so as not to get anymore becasue I pay dearly with ins. I have 6 tix left to drop off and 4 are dropping off by feb next yr. Then I should see my ins drop dramatically. IDK about other states, but in Louisiana, you're allowed to do 8 mph over on interstates with no cops pulling you over. i set my cruise to 78 mph and have yet to get a ticket from a trooper or a sheriff.

One of my favorite features is the speed warning indicator you can set to any speed. I usually set it for ten over and then I can choose to slow down or ignore it. I like it because it helps prevent those idiotic tickets when you really just aren't paying attention and not speeding "on purpose".

For me, it's just like the comments I get when people are talking about how fast you've had you car up to (yes it's a ZL1), and I say I have only had mine up to just over 90mph once.
Maybe that's as fast as I've decided to take it, but I never mentioned just how long it took me to reach it. I usually keep to with 7-10 over any usual speed limit, but I sure do enjoy getting there in short order. |

True, most of the officers around here are my friends but don't think for a second they wouldn't write me a ticket if I were driving like an asshole! BTW: You sound like an officer or former officer with a chip on your shoulder! You know the type, do as I say not as I do or I'll get you kind of person! Don't take this as disrespect for law enforcement officers because that's not the case but you need to show respect to get it! Also I clocked somewhere around 80,000 miles last year and guess what, NO TICKETS!

I keep myself out of trouble in my car by living in the metro Atlanta area. Traffic is so bad around here that is simply impossible to speed lol. That and I have been in cars much faster than mine that it almost takes the fun out of it.

Yea, they cracked down heavy on speeding. I remember around 2002 driving a 220 mile trip (Houston, to Lafayette,La) in 2 hrs 45 min. Most ppl it'd take em about 4hrs. Of course that was the ignorance in me being young. Now I just get to the speed limit or maybe a few over as fast as I can.
