are the recaros stiff as a brick or ok?
Thanks!
I want to say it has the same shifter a ZL1 comes with it you bought it with a manual trans. It's a short throw, or at least shorter than the normal SS. It's a fairly short and tight throw for a factory car. I really like it myself.

It is a short throw shifter. I've not driven another SS to compare.

And I have a 13, so no Recaros. From the comments made by those that have them, they are comfortable. The only real drawback is the side bolsters can make it harder to get in/out, and you have to pay attention to pull the seatbelt forward and then across your body ( as opposed to just pulling it across your body ) as it can mark/cut into the seat.

The basics are covered in the sticky: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=212140

I too am thinking about the 1LE. Its only $3500 more than a SS. I am not a big fan of the black hood nor the wheels. I have seen plenty of videos on pulling the film off the hood. I pretty much just want the brakes and the suspension. Both could be done to an SS, but not for $3500. If I pull the film and sell the wheels, I am at the same cost of a 1SS.

If you love carving corners, whether on the street or on the track, then you'll love this car. I personally enjoy carving up the back roads. The 1LE has all of the mods and more that I would have done to the SS to make it corner better. Buy it and enjoy!

The hood wrap easily comes off. And there are numerous buyers here on the forum for the wheels.

Although, from what I've been reading, the 1LE (complete) has a higher resale value over the SS. Something to keep in mind as your start removing pieces.

I like the hood myself - it's distinction on our uncommon vehicles. While I could care less for the matte vinyl wrap material, I've seriously been considering a carbon fiber swap, it would still have the contrast, but not the same cleaning/care requirements. My EVO had quite a bit of CF with clear coating so it's same as washing the rest of the car really.

As for the wheels - yeah, they get dusty fast, but they are black wheels. My last 3 performance cars in a row had brembos also, but aluminum or silver-ish wheels. You could wash and detail those wheels, drive the car once, and come home and basically feel like you'd never cleaned them. With the black, I've gone two weeks now and they're just now getting to the point where I feel like I need to get in there and clean them. HUGE bonus in my opinion having the 1LE black wheels with these Brembos. It doesn't look filthy so quickly.

I swear this car is a Veyron in disguise. I stopped 4 different places today and had people lined up to ask about it each and every time. Had two employees at Sam's Club come out to ask about it when I was getting gas. This might be a double edged sword for some, but it says to me this car is just as much show as it is go. I've had some pretty awesome cars before this, and almost never had anyone make a comment. With the 1LE it's an every drive occurrence. I told the wife (CFO) that she needs to go ahead and approve me buying a spare "commuter" for those work days or I'll never be on time in the 1LE.

The brakes are the same as with an SS, with the exception of the red callipers on the 1LE, is this what you meant?

From what I'm gathering here, the 1LE is money down the toilet for you, and thus not the car to get.

A fully loaded Camaro 2SS perhaps?

To any one here considering taking off the car's front matt hood wrap, and also selling the OEM black ZL1 mags, I can promise you this, that on the private used car market, you just killed your 1LE.

Some of you may argue this point with me, I say put it to the test, and report back. (cigarette)

It wouldn't apply to me, and I assume it doesn't apply to the vast majority of owners, but the ride quality on crappy roads is the only complaint I have seen.

I've been spending a lot of time reading the owners posts in the section, and nearly everything is positive. I'm seriously considering trading my ZL1 for a C7, and picking up an SS w/1LE, as I really like the 5th gen.

Unless you really want an auto SS I recommend to everyone want to buy to go with the 1LE package. If I had just waited a little longer on my purchase that is what I would have done. My modds cost way more than 3500..

No negatives in a warm weather place like where I am, but you plan on DD in a colder climate you will need tires. The one day that it was 40 degrees in FL, I could feel how slippery the tires were. The black hood/wheels/spoiler combo is the 1LE's signature. I'd never change it personally, but I would at least keep everything if you ever plan to sell the car. The hood just needs soap and water, but above all wiping it dry is the most important. Theres a bunch of threads on other stuff people are using on it, but doesn't NEED it.

All that being said, I love my 1LE and look forward to driving it when I wake up in the morning and get excited to leave work just so I can drive home. Get some LT headers, get the NPP exhaust and pull exhaust flap fuse, you will not regret it.

Pros: Everything
Cons: You have to get out of the car to go to work.

so it would be like throwing money out the window to replace it and install a hurst shifter? or it's allready a hurst??

i think, it cannot be ordered as an another option with the 1LE..?
