If it were built in Detroit I wouldn't own it. If it came from the south, or a non-union plant it would be different, but a large reason Detroit such a rundown shit hole today is because of the workers apathetic ethic and union strongholds that proliferated there for so many years. There's a reason the cars coming out of Detroit we're known to be some of the worst the world has to offer, and made American cars the brunt of every joke about quality.

What is with these dead threads coming back? This one is over two years old!

For anyone that doesn't know GM History, GM's been building cars in Canada for a long, long time. Oshawa's history with GM is long.

Bobby Orr? That famous hockey player? When he was a kid, he played junior hockey for the Oshawa Generals.

The Oshawa Generals are named after General Motors, who sponsored them. But that's nothing.

Oshawa's been involved in GM production since World War ONE.

And yes...to agree with NavyDood...the Fourth Generation Camaro was built in Canada as well (I had a 1994 Model Camaro), but in understanding what Baltimorejohn1 means, it is a bit of a let down that a Chevrolet Camaro is built outside of the states, it really should be built in America.

Let's face it, the slogan doesn't go like this:

"The heartbeat of Canada, is today's Chevrolet".

What's next to build in Canada...Harley Davidson's?
Glad you told me this so I try pouring tequila in the engine instead of oil and see how it goes.

I will try garlic break for the gear filter

I just hope in the near future that something is done where the USA is given some of those jobs....
You must didn't get the memo. All Camaros will be built in the US again starting in 2015. Also some trivia for you...Camaros have been made in Canada since 1967..but not exclusively. Some were made in Canada but most were made in the US. Chevy had had factories in Canada for years.

WRONG! The reason Detroit is a shit hole is because our elected officials went along with the powers that be...bankers/elite/world financiers and setup the new system/New World Order/NAFTA/GATT etc. is why U.S Industry and manufacturing has declined and has left industrial cities shitholes. Unfortunatly these new international laws were put in place for the elite to better control international money not to benefit the US. Our politicians like Bush 1 and Bill Clinton were the main instigators who supported these new rules. Of course they have benefited and were well compensated in supporting these programs. Didn't mean to bring politics in it but the unions have nothing very little do with it. George Bush 1 came on TV and stated that the US will NO Longer be an Industrial country but an informational and service oriented country. For more info look it up.

If everyone is so global-minded, why is there people yippin about "illegal" immigration? Just let em in. We must think globally. The world is one. What's a few million out of 700 billion, right? Everyone wins using that line of thought, right? Have the non-union "illegals" build the cars for 2.00 per hour, and GM can make HUGE profits and still sell Camaros for $13,000. Raise your hand if you don't want that.*

*you're probably a dumbass if you think I was being serious.

the pseudo-politics aside...GM has had parts made in Oshawa for almost 100 years. Chevy automobiles made there is also nothing new.

Nothing to see here, no new revelation about the further slide of the USA, no rah-rah...no point, no surprise, no teeth needing to be gnashed. In WWI GM was doing this. Nobody cared then about 'it wasn;t made in the USA', or in the '20s, '30s, '40s, '50s, '60s, '70s, '80's, 90's or in the 21st century until... 5Gen Camaro owners trying to shore up their glories of the great USA got teary-eyed about it.

We've had enough drama over this non-event.

I used to inspect steel product before export to canada. They have very high quality standards and inspectors who give a shit. Thank you canada, for building an amazing car.

This is very true...we had quality steel companies in Hamilton...stelco provided a lot of coils for different car makers including GM before being sold..stelco still provides quality steel for the automotive industry.

The union has been knocking on the door of non union Canadian auto plants for years. No luck so far.
