I have no quarrel with the Canadians and their work ethic. It has proven to produce fine products.
The same isn't true of the Detroit shops

I don't know which pisses me off the most, the original ignorant thread, the guy who dug it up after two years, or that I just wasted my time reading it.

Let's talk about the great cars Camaros are and what you can do to them, and with them. Don't be too disappointed your Camaro was built in Canada. As was well said above, Canadians have been assemblying Camaros (and formerly Pontiac TransAms) up there for a long time. And they've done very well doing it. Rather it be built there than China. I truly understand your "Made in America" thought too, but Canadians are very proud people and their Camaro/Firebire workmanship has been noted for years. Shoot, a lot of other parts you got on that ride were assembled in Mexico. Moving on.....I say just enjoy the ride, whatever ya got.

I'm just glad my Camaro wasn't made in China.

There's a reason the cars coming out of Detroit we're known to be some of the worst the world has to offer, and made American cars the brunt of every joke about quality.

there's more to it than that. I'm no fan of unions, but the big three are more at fault for their problems than the unions are. yes, the unions did push wages and benefits to a point that cars were less profitable. but, it was the big three that choose not to focus on smaller, more fuel efficient cars in the late 70's and 80's. it was the big three that laughed at those types of cars that the Asians were perfecting. it was the big three that adopted an attitude of people will buy whatever they made. it was the big three that gave us built in obsolescence, and withheld features from their cars.

the big three, especially GM,. simply got so big, and so dominant in the automobile industry that they thought they could do whatever they want, and nobody could threaten them. they did far more harm to themselves than the unions ever did.

people always seem to forget, despite the higher labor costs for the unionized domestic three, any Asian car except a KIA will cost you more than a domestic. go price an accord, altima, Camry, fusion, and Malibu and see which is the cheapest

Funny thing is, the guy that resurrected it is the guy that started it two years ago.

the Oshawa plant always has stellar ratings as well. I remember seeing it was the 3rd best car manufacturing plant in the world!

Also, you could prob throw a rock from the roof of the GM HQ building in Detroit and hit Canadian soil, it just makes sense that they expanded there!

Isnt the 6th gen going to be built in East Lansing?

Is east Lansing the plant where the Pontiac g6 was built. I had an 06 G6 GTP coupe and was not too thrilled with the build quality. I'm sure it's improved now, I hope.

Well... 45 years ago my '70 Chevelle was built in Canada (also at Oshawa), so it's not like it's a new thing for GM to be building cars in Canada...

...but rejoice, they're moving production to Lansing... and building a new stamping plant to help accommodate it.

Guess who has two thumbs and is responsible for picking up the rail-cars loaded full of awesomeness from Grand River Assembly? This guy.
